So yeah, about hair

Hello thar.

For a couple of years, I have been dressing solely in black (since it's my favorite color, by far), and I've also dyed my hair recently (3 months ago or so).
Now, for more than a year, have I been drawn closer to the goth subculture via friends (mainly female jrockers though), and since I listen pretty much only to Gothic Metal and Doom Metal (who both draw inspiration from the Goths when it comes to fashion) it feels very natural for me to do so as well. I already got a long black robe, along with a black army jacket (the real deal). Sometimes I also wear ultrablack eyeliner, but it's not that common.

Now here's the tricky part: I have no idea what to do with my hair.

Even though I might dress like a goth people seem to mistake me for a scenekid because of my hairstyle. I dont have any personal grudges against "emos", but I rather not be mistaken for one, since I don't believe in the same thing as "they" do (generalization, I know).

In my defense I can tell you that the lightning and yellow surrounding do me no good, I'm pale so the yellow reflects throughout my face, making it look really weird, Also note that I look considerably younger on the photos than IRL, no more questions if I'm 14, thank you .
Here goes:

http://img348.imageshack.us/img348/1751/img0006qv7.jpg

http://img348.imageshack.us/img348/326/img0009fc8.jpg

http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/4468/img0012jb1.jpg

As you can see my hair is slightly waved, with very long bangs. I'm unsure on what I can do with it, to be honest. I can wear a ponytail but it makes me look so cute that it's not really an option, I rather be taken seriously.
Normally I wouldn't ask people to help me, but I can't really find a solution, and I really want to change hairstyle. I don't mind extreme, but I can't spend too much time a day fixing my hair.

Thanks in advance, all help appreciated.
Note that english is not my main language, please tell me if something is not spelled right, so I dont do the same mistake again.

I personally think your current hairstle look nice, and as far as I know there is no real "got hairstyle" and you should go make an introduction thread. (some people around here are slightly touchy about that)

Oh, and I know what you mean about people asking if your 14, I have that kind of problem too

I am sorry, I didn't notice the introduction part .

So it actually looks good? Thanks. That's interesting.

I'm considering cutting it around 5 cm in the back, making it a tad shorter than the front but still medium length, or just try to thin it in the back some. I want it to be chaotic, but it gets kind of thick in the back, which is bothersome.

You might also get a big bottle of aquanet and a comb and tease it into a big Robert smith style rat's nest, I used to do that with mine, looked rather awesome

Mine's a throw-back cut from my dad's birthday. I sorta cut little chunks out of the end while it grows out...it looks fine...and i've let all the dyes grow out. But the single black dread-lock at the back of my head pisses everyone (but me) off...

Comb it back into a "victorian gentleman" style - I think that'd look good. =)

Your hair...it looks stringy! Sorry, but fix that. The super long bangs make your face look too long, das ist nicht gute. I'd angle it a bit more, and then push it back, away from your face a little.
The pushed back Victorian look is good too, but the angles would rock if you want to still have bangs. I think... but I'd need a better picture of your face with the hair pulled back.

NOOO! Haunted House and Draconysius beat me with creating their deathawks before my mohawk, and I'm not letting anyone get one now! ¬¬

Not yet. I've said for over five months that as soon as I'm on college, I'll get a mohawk.
Actually, it'd be between a mohawk and deathawk, as it's a lot wider than a mohawk, but not as messy as a deathawk.

Jilli~! NOOOOO! Don't you'll ruin... I don't know what you'll ruin, but please no!
Grow it long, and be a smexy Victorian genlteman. No mohawk, deathhawk whatever, unless you can reverse it on a whim, then I'm okay, but your hair is good as of right now.

Haha, that's the cool thing.
Imagine a goth in Victorian clothes but with a mohawk.
Awesomeness incarnate!

Grrr, I thought that's what you were up to. Okay, fine, do what it pleases you to do. I know I can't stop you.
Oh and you owe me pictures. If it turns out bad I get bragging rights, and if it turns out well you get bragging rights.

That requires email, Jilli, especially if it looks bad.

I'll try to do the pushed back look tommorow, but I think that my hair is a wee bit too thick in the back to be able to do that. Would look bad without eyeliners, so I'll test with them on and we'll see how it goes :/.

As you can see I'm sligtly sceptical to the whole idea, but we'll see how it goes .

I have to wait until tommorow since it's dark outside, so I would be forced to use the yellow light again, which would make me a sad panda.

I'm not up for a deathhawk, that's for sure, heh.

I don't think it looked that bad. Perhaps you could just tidy it up a bit.

I took a pic where my hair is pushed back.

http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5536/img0003fm4.jpg

I'm not only interested in trying a different haircut, but also interested in learning good products to keep it in shape, I'm such a rookie when it comes to hair.

That's the main reason why my hair looks so chaotic, not like mind chaos though, but then again, I don't want to look retarded.

I'm going to "tidy it up" a bit in a few days, when I'm going to cut my hair/re-dye it.

I looks very good like that, just allow some hair to be in front of your face; not in an emo fashion, but just let it lie there. I just love hair in the face (bangs, devilock, my avatar...)

The pushed back hair looks great but it should be a little more in place and just a nice strand hanging near your face. Look at some typical vampire movies, the guys in capes seem to have their hair pushed back a lot.
Let me find you something
http://www.best-horror-movies.com/im...-2-small-2.jpg
but use a bit less gel than that, you don't want it to be that tight.
