Hello All
Since I am a relatively new member, I thought it appropriate to answer the questions posted in one of the other threads so as to introduce myself. I hope you all enjoy.
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I’m a student, so that’s my job more than anything. I also am a kindergarten religion teacher at my family’s parish, but I do not believe in the faith which I teach. My hobbies include reading, writing, drawing, painting, paper cutting, calligraphy, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, listening to music, watching movies, and just having a good time.
2. Where are you from?
I am currently living in Wisconsin, USA. Not a huge fan of it here, I prefer the East Coast, but it’s where I’m at for now.
3. Who is your favorite author?
I don’t really have a favorite author. I enjoy classics, such as Poe and Shakespeare, as well as more contemporary authors, such as Jane Mendelson. I don’t normally read books based on author, it’s typically contents. But, as of yet, my favorite author would have to be Anton Szandor Lavey.
4. What are your favorite films?
I enjoy a variety of films, everything from Dirty Dancing to Nosferatu to Pan’s Labyrinth. I typically enjoy films a bit out of the ordinary, such as Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Dot the I, but more than anything, I enjoy films which easily convey a different time than the one in which we are living. Films that take you away from your own world, and trap you in another for a short period of time.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I would want music that represents both my spouse and I, and seeing as I am neither engaged or married, I can determine what that music will be.
6. At your funeral?
At my funeral, I’d like to have “the Ornament” by Dredg from their live CD, “Sing” by The Dresden Dolls, “One Thing” by Finger Eleven, “Desert Song” by MCR, or “The Living” by Natalie Merchant played at my funeral, depending on how I left the world.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I’d like to drown. I love the water, and I think that drowning would be a peaceful way for me to go. You hit a high once your brain loses oxygen, and while the moments of terror prior to that high would be unpleasant, I think that the sensation of floating and being surrounded by water would be comforting to me.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
I don’t want a casket. I would like to be cremated and have my ashes turned into a diamond and given to someone I love, that way I would forever be with them.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
My favorite outfit would have to be my black pleather 4 inch heal lace up ankle boots, fishnets, black pleated mini skirt, white three quarter sleeve white collared shirt, black tie, big black hoops, and lots of make up.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
My bright yellow ducky boots. Now those just screamed style.
11. What's your favorite band?
Can’t say I truly have one. My musical tastes are extremely eclectic, and I can’t judge heavy metal at the same level as indie rock. I enjoy The New Pornographers, Marilyn Manson, Nonpoint, Hurt, Placebo, Rammstein, Yeah Yeah yeahs, VNV Nation, The Crüxshadows, Tegan and Sara, Alkaline Trio, and a million other bands.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I am currently a junior in high school. My major for college is undecided.
13. Why did you join?
I joined because I live in an area full of people who do not understand or share my interests, and I thought that by joining, I would meet people who do understand and share my interests, and could perhaps gain some friends.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
I am female.
That’s just some basics about me, and I figured I might as well throw it out there. If anyone has questions, let me know! I am excited to get to know many of you, and cannot wait to hear from you!

Wow, didn't expect so much attention!! Hi everybody, and thanks for stopping by!!
Stormtrooper of Death-I will be sure to check out the music section. While I enjoy goth bands, I don't know a whole lot in comparison to some of you veterans here, so I need to study up!
Renatus-I live near the capital. You?
Steppenwolf-Natalie Merchant is indeed the singer from 10,000 Maniacs, but after the band broke up, she went solo and has put out a whole bunch of amazing solo albums. I think she has an amazing voice, and while her talents were obvious in her work with 10,000 Maniacs, I think she truly defined herself as an atrist once she went solo.
Suture-Self-My family is Catholic, and have been puhsing their religious beliefs on my since I was born. Never in my life have I ever believed in the Catholic faith, or found any common beliefs with the Catholic faith. I have a lot of problems with what the Catholic Church advocates. My parents forced me to take religious education courses, as well as go to mass, which I found as a waste of time. I discovered that the parish need volunteers to help out on the nursery during masses, so while my family went to mass, I went to watch kids in the nursery. After spending 2 years helping in the nursery, the woman in charge of religious education asked me to teach a kindergarten religion class, and I said I would, seeing as I was there anyways, and really, all I do is read a Bible story to the kids, play games, do crafts, and color. Nothing else to it really. Now, the parish thinks I'm uber religious, no thanks to my parents forcing me to get confirmed to their damn religion. I'm officially associated with a religion I have serious problems with for the rest of my life, and my parents don't understand why it's a big deal to me. My father and I made a deal that if I got confirmed, he'd buy me a real corset, but he has yet to buy me a corset, and it's been a year since my confirmation, needless to say, I am one angry Catholic.
Once again, hello everyone. I can't wait to hear more from you all! Also, questions are more than welcome, so ask away!

I forgot to say welcome so Welcome.
I live over in Waukesha. My uncle however lives over in Madison, or at least that one really great suburb of Madison that I keep forgetting. Everyone on my mother's side of the family has either flown in or is flying in from all over the country for chrismas.
Now tell me of your life as a Catholic, is it the Catholic community you have a hard time believing in, is it the teachings you have a hard time believing in what? I personaly don't believe in the Catholic community, well at least the American Catholic community I can't speak for the other regions of the world, yet.

Kanedawg-No, I can't say the Church is a subtle being.
Renatus-Very cool. You like WI or no? In case you didn't see it, I'm not a huge fan. Too cold and all that. As far as my beliefs, I have a problem with the Church's views on abortion, euthanasia, assisted suicide, invetro, homosexuals, women, other religions, as well as their teachings. To add to my religious frustration, I go to a Catholic high school. Good times. I basically know the Catholic faith better than a preist. It's pretty ridiculous. I think that no two people can have the exact same religious beliefs. As individuals, we all have unique ideas, and those unique ideas go for religion as well. As of yet, I've found I share many religious ideas with Satanism, but not all. I don't feel the need to be a part of a religion, my spiritual side really does not mean much to me. I'm an atheist as well, so there isn't much to be spiritual about. As you can see, it's hard to have something in common with the Catholic Church when you don't believe in a higher power, Jesus, the devil, or anything really beyond what is here in this life.

Ok so you do have a problem with the Catholic community then (among other things but you still qualify to), join the club, we meet on fridays and are currently saving for a trip to London.
No not a fan of Wisconsin, when I get the chance I'm moving back to Washington State my place of birth. But for now I have a summer plan that is moving me straight out of Wisconsin free of charge. It's basicaly a summer camp of sorts, it's a great place to get to the outdoors, get in shape, and meet some new people, ooh and you get to play with big guns, military grade guns. It's a place known as Fort Benning GA.

Retanus-Oh goodie! I would love to join the club if we go to London!! I haven't been to Washington, one of the few states I have yet to visit. I've seen most of the states, I'm missing around 10-15. Why do you want to head back to Washington? What are you headed to GA for? Military training? I have two friends who are marines, a friend who worked in the air force, and a few other folks who I don't really know what they did. But hey, if you want to join the military, good luck!

It is a very beautiful state, first off none of the extreme temperatures of Wisconsin, it either cool and humid or hot and dry (as opposed to hot and humid/cold and dry). I myself was born there though was torn away due to the fact that I am the only one in my family born on the West Coast. I've heard that it's climate is very close to that of Ireland though I personaly can't attest to that seeing as I've never been to Ireland.
As for joining the military I am continuing a long family tradition. I have a Lt Colonel for a Father and another one who is stationed near where I'll be going for an Aunt.

Renatus-Very cool on both the military and Washington. I haven't heard that Washington has a similar climate to Ireland, but I haven't been to Ireland either, and all my Irish friends haven't been to Washington. Guess I just wasn't meant to know.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has got to be one of the best films evar.
I feel I can happily say, hand on heart that when it's all tallied up at the end of the decade, Eternal Sunshine will be somewhere in the top ten.
It's such a beautiful magical film about breakups, breakdowns and breakthroughs (as the back of the case says anyway..). It's such a wonderful film, it always cheers me up and helps me make sense of all the bad times and why they are important to remember.
I could just watch the start of the film over and over.
I would so love too meet someone like Clementine on the random, it would be a dream come true it would.
Anyway, you strike me as a very interesting lady with lots of rather swish hobbies and interests.
I'm sorry to hear about the 'religion' problems you are having. My family tried to do much the same with me (only with the church of England) and while I am open to the idea of religion it appears that years of sunday school has left me spiritually dead inside...
But yes, it was lovely to meet you...

Many welcomes! You seem nice and intelligent. Good stuff. Checking out the music board would be good, but don't lose sight of the music you already enjoy.

Edward Strange-Thanks for the warm welcome. I agree, Eternal Sunshine is one of those movies you can watch a million times and never get sick of. It's insightful and down right amazing. I love Clementine, and I actually have a friend who is very similar to her. Granted, I would love to meet a genuine Clementine, especially one who has never ever seen Eternal Sunshine, and doesn't even know they are basically Clementine. That would be an amazing person. I also agree with you on the religion thing, when people push you to hard to do something, such as believe in a religion, you give up caring, and go the other direction. Same has kind of happened to me. I hear so much religious nonsense, or what I percieve as nonsense, that I truly don't care and the spiritual part of me doesn't matter anymore. Oh wells.
Green.Lady-Thank you for the welcome! I have checked out the music boards, and no worries, my musical tastes are my own, and while I may discover some new bands thanks to this board, my old loves will never die. I am who I am, and that just isn't changing. Besides, why would I attempt toconform to a culture, which I already belong to, that is all about individualism? Kind of doesn't work. Also, love your quote, the Mighty Boosh is like my jesus. Old Greg is one of my favorite characters.

I have his "Love Games" song on my iPod, because I'm just that cool.

Green.Lady-I adore that song! My ex-boyfriend and I used to sing that to each other. We were so cool. I love Old Greg's artistic skills. "I call this on Bailey's, and this one is called Bailey's, and this one is as close as you can get to Bailey's without get wet"!
