Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Any Nightwish fans out there?

I know there was/is a thread called this, but after searching the music-boards for to long, i gave up, sorry to the other thread owner.

Anyway. I would say Nightwish's style is my cling to "gothic" music, although they aren't exactly described as goth. I have all of their albums and would love to see them live (except they don't go to america often). I know a few bands like them, but I was wondering if anybody knew others...
I know...
-Tarja (nightwish's ex-lead singer's new band)
- Epica (eh... they're ok)
- Within Temptation
- Leaves Eyes (not nearly as good as nightwish)
And that is it (Sadly). I tried Sirenia and Delain but they i personally didn't like them.

I do like Sisters of Mercy, The cure, Joy Divsion, and Sixouise and the Banshees, but only certain albums, and not as much as The bands above.

Since you have Within Temptation & Epica I should add Hannah Fury and In this moment.

Although not precisely in the same vein as Nightwish, I would reccomend Kamelot.

Speaking of Nightwish, since the departure of Tarja, and her subsequent replacement by Annette, I question whether the band, in its current form, can still be described as operatic metal.

Therion's later stuff is Operatic Metal, too. You might like them...

Eh, my sister used to love them a few years ago so I sort of remeber them fondly. But I don't think they are particularly great.
