Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Radiohead - the Hail to the Thief album
Bought it yesterday
love it.
currently the song " I will. (no man's land)" is playing...
I will
Lay me down
In a bunker.
Underground.
I won't let this happen to my children.
Meet the real world coming out of my shell
With white elephants
Sitting ducks.
I will
Rise up.
Little babies' eyes.

The Suicide Machines - I Never Promised You A Rose Garden
Wow.
A punk version of a Lynn Anderson song...that's pretty fuckin sweet. It's suprisingly good.
Now if only Minor Threat would remake Glen Campbell's Rhinestone Cowboy...

Kind of hard for Minor Threat to cover much of anything nowadays
They did cover "Stepping Stone" and "Good Guys Don't Wear White" however
weird....I'm listening to "Facet Squared" by Fugazi
"Pride no longer has definition
Everybody wears it, it always fits
A state invoked for the lack of position
Strength is the bait that keeps us so busy
If it's perforated, then I tear it to bits
All sense lost in the frenzy
They should never touch the ground
Irony is the refuge of the educated
Always complaining but they never quit
Cool's eternal, but it always dated
They should never touch the ground
It's not worth, it's the investment
That keeps us tied up in all these strings
We draw lines and stand behind them
That's why flags are such ugly things
That they should never touch the ground"

now I'm listening to "Famous" by the Magnetic Fields, aka one of the greatest bands ever!!
"I know you've tried
I know you've cried
I know you're died
A little inside but
Baby you could be famous
You could see your marble face all around
Baby you could be famous
If you could just get out of this town
Just get out of this town now
Baby you could be famous
You could sell the world a new look and sound
Baby you could be famous
If you could just get out of this town
Just get out of this town now
You sold your soul
To rock'n'roll
Gave up control
But here's your loophole:
Baby you could be famous
You could see your marble face all around
Baby you could be famous
If you could just get out of this town
Just get out of this town now
Baby you could be famous
You could sell the world a new look and sound
Baby you could be famous
If you could just get out of this town
Just get out of this town now
You are the queen
Of every scene
You are the king
Of everything.
Baby you could be famous
You could see your marble face all around
Baby you could be famous
If you could just get out of this town
Just get out of this town now
Baby you could be famous
You could sell the world a new look and sound
Baby you could be famous
If you could just get out of this town
Just get out of this town now"

Heh...are you saying that cause they are old by now, or did one of them die?

No, it'd be hard for Minor Threat to cover much of anything since they broke up back in 85. As far as a reunion, I've asked Ian about it, and I'll guarantee 1 of 2 responses he'll give you if you ask-"no" and "fuck no".

Yeah I knew one was in Bad Religion, one in Fugazi, etc, but didn't know if someone passed on...
Heh...if you talk to Ian again thank him for me. Usually I'd be ticked at buyng a cassette tape (yeah the 80's) where the same short songs were on the front and back of the tape, but I love that album so friggin much I have only love.

I’m listening to “a part of you” by Railer, my absolute favorite band.
Looking at you from across the room
I'm slowly moving inside,
I'm finally breaking through
Well you're a part of me,
and I'm a part of you
Would you walk with me, be my majesty
speak with your eyes, and tell me how you'de say
that you will need me some day
Well you know, I don't mind
The places you stay, hiding behind a girl that you portray
There's a secret fire, building up in you
I'de burn myself just to be with you
It's out of my hands, I am out of control
If I could sell it I would give my soul
For a shot in this life, I don't care if I die
I'll take the chance before it passes by
If you don't think I'de set myself on fire
How can you feel the love that is buried deep inside?
Another truth hides a clever lie
We'll do what it takes to get us by
And nothing is wrong, when everything's right
So let me take you there if just for tonight
It's a matter of love, it's a matter of trust
so when will you let me drink from your cup?
I'm a slave on a string, don't own a goddamn thing...
I'll never ask too much
Well you know, I don't mind
The places you stay, hiding behind a girl that you portray
There's a secret fire, building up in you
I'de burn myself just to be with you
It's out of my hands, I am out of control
If I could sell it I would give my soul
For a shot in this life, I don't care if I die
I'll take the chance before it passes by
If you don't think I'de set myself on fire
How can you feel the love that is buried deep inside?

Listening to Splashdown - "All Things"
Every thief knows to stash his earnings.
Convenience is honey where flies in their pleasures drown.
Into the end, but not like this...
Pleasure's overrated anyhow.
Shame about that band. Fucking record companies.

Granny-double heee!!!!!!!
.bp.-copycat, you! In case you weren't aware, there IS more than one song that they've done!
The Good Times Are Killing Me-Modest Mouse
"The good times are killing me...
Here we go!
Got dirt, got air, got water and I know you can carry on.
Shrug off shortsighted false excitement and oh what can I say?
Have one, have twenty more "one mores" and oh it does not relent.
The good times are killing me.
Kick butt, buzz-cut dickheads who didn't like what I said.
The good times are killing me.
Jaws clenching tight, we talked all night, oh but what the hell did we say?
The good times are killing me.
Fed up with all that LSD.
Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamines.
Late nights with warm, warm whiskey.
I guess the good times they were all just killing me.
Got dirt, got air, got water and I know you can carry on.
The good times are killing me.
Enough hair of the dog to make myself an entire rug.
The good times are killing me.
Have one, have twenty more "one mores" and oh it does not relent.
The good times are killing me.
Shit-kicker city slickers who all wanted me dead.
The good times are killing me.
Get sucked in and stuck in late nights with more folks that I don't know.
The good times are killing me.
The good times are killing me."
