Goth Craft....uh..what?
So there's a book out called Goth Craft: The Magickal Side of Dark Culture. Anyone else feel like laughing at this with me?

I have it. It explains goth fairly well but it seems to confuse goth with religion about halfway through. I would not recommend it to someone who does not know anything about goth. It isn't the best book for babybats because it does confuse goth and religion a bit too much.

From the website:
"Digitalis introduces many kinds of Goths and Witches, and the philosophy of each. Practical as well as insightful, Goth Craft covers the basics of magick, with special attention to blood magick, death magick, and necromancy. You'll also learn how to channel dark emotions, express yourself through the dark arts (clothes, hair, makeup, body modification), choose appropriate Goth music for ritual, and myriad other ways to merge magickal practice with the Goth lifestyle."
Hooray for all the ridiculous stereotyping this book will likely lead to.

Like I said, it explains goth well.....in the beginning, but then it just gets too 'magic-y' and weird. It almost starts to sound silly once you get past the first few pages.

It's from Llewellyn, what'd you expect? Most of their books published are extremely fluffy.

One of the reasons I find myself being more at odds with other occultists these days...
Hopefully, this shit will NOT pick up steam. I was once told by this lady that it would be a good idea for me to make "goth" into a religion. I... wow... just... wow.

I'd buy the book, but then again I love books and will read anything not tied down. Just wish he had went through another company. Llewellyn does do it's share of fluff.

I don't think it will. Konstantinos and his books "Nocturnal Witchcraft" and "Gothic Grimoire" are both about merging being a Goth with Wiccan practice (although both of them focus heavily on magic rather than Wicca), yet he doesn't seem to be too well-known among Wiccans or witches.
I don't see anything wrong with merging the two if one so wishes, so long as the distinctions between Goth and religion are kept. Problem is, too many people cannot make this distinction and that is where confusion is born.

It's still slightly better than Silver Ravenwolf.
Do you think Llewellyn requires that all of its authors publish under pen names containing the word Raven?

I saw that book a couple weeks ago at my local Barnes N Nobles. I nearly peed my pants with amusement. Luckily I made it to the bathroom which is on the same floor.
The title of the bool intrugued me, so I picked it up.
I was curious as to the author, so I looked in back and read a bit.
Nearly shat myself with disbelief that such stuff was actually published.
And that name! Oh that horrible horrible name!!!!
The Raven part was tolerable, but "Digitalis"??!?!!
Boy should have just stayed home.

YES! That book is so annoying. He/she(I don't even know if the author is a guy or girl) uses words that are very unnecessary.

This idiot also has a myspace page. He put in a friend request. I took one look, read a few things on that page and then.....DENY. That book was on the tables in waterstones. I just completely bypassed it and shuffled into my usual territory of the fantasy section.
