Braces?
Okay, so I got braces again today. I've had them before, but it was like seventh grade when I thought they were fashionable. (O.o)
But now I have them again, and I know they make me look really nerdy (plus they hurt!) and...they look out of place with most of my clothes. Is there any way I can make braces a little less nerdy/a little more goth and still be able to open my mouth at all for the next 24 months? (I haven't the choice to change rubber band colours yet.)

I've had braces since last year sometime.
I've grown quite fond of them.
I've never had a choice for my elastic bands but I've had plain silver ones the whole time which I'm quite fond of.
They don't seem to not go with any of my clothes.
Although they do make my cheeks look a big larger.
I find dusting my cheekbones with white powder prevents this.
I wish you good luck with your metal mouth.

Thanks. It's nice to know someone has gotten along nicely with them.
I'm mostly quite pissy right now because my entire face is throbbing.
I'll try the white powder on the cheekbones, it sounds like a good idea.
Thank you :]

I used to have them. I actually almost want them back because I lost a great deal of weight, due to not being able to eat a variety of things, such as bread.
I did used to hate having them tightened. It was really painful and I couldn't eat for the whole day when I had it done , so I know how you feel!.

My sympathies... I've got braces as well (but I'll be rid of them in about a week's time... YAY!!), and I know the feeling. Just ignore them as much as possible and when you feel the pain think about what the end result's going to be. You'll be fine. I've had braces on and off the last nine years or so - you'll get used to it, believe me.

I like braces. I think that they're well adorable...people always look strange when they get taken out.

Yeah, I've been told I look adorable with them, I must confess I haven't been called adorable in about 8 years, but eh...
Now that I'm not stoned on Ibuprofen constantly I feel a bit better honestly XD

I had braces a few month ago and when I got them off they gave me a retainer with metal wires, but all my friends had clear ones. That annoyed me a bit because it still looks like I have braces.
You should try to smile without opening yor mouth. Or just get used to them. You could ask if they can change your braces to the clear ones, but then you would have to go through the process of taking them off and getting them on again. Best of luck, though.

Ok, first, I've had mine for like over 3 years(i had a totally screwed mouth) and the best band color is to stick to silver black turns yellow with food like white and the clear, silver blends in. if you have larger lips, they might cover your braces in normal areas. After a few appointments, tightening doesn't hurt anymore, occasionaly sore but not much else. And over All, trust me, ppl aren't noticeing your braces as much as you think, over 80 percent of all ppl will get braces or a retainer before they die and braces aren't the worst thing that can happen. (try root canals) =^^=

xDDDD lucky. I have had my braces since I was in 4th grade. They're a bitch. You can still be considered goth with braces. But for me, they're like my trade mark. No one really remembers me with out them. xD

Get chrome ones??
Or white ones to hide the effect a little if possible??
Don't get pink or green, they look bad. Blue is usually okay. Silver's a little pedestrian unless theres a complete mass of wires...

Mine hurt a lot because they yanked 4 teeth and put the braces on on the same day.
Trying to make braces goth is stupid. Braces are braces.
Stick with silver bands, other colors always change.

Lmao.
I had this guy come up to me once and go "Hey, you have braces! I want them they're so cool" At first I thought he was joking but he was dead serious. Then he proceeded to follow me and my friend around saying he was a vampire and wanted to bite us. >.>

Vampire?
Like 'rawr I want you're blood' vampire? I don't mind the Renisance, dress up, goth look 'vampire', but Claiming to be an actual vampire makes me chortle deep down inside...

I would just say wait a month or so until you can get black bands.
I have black bands and they look cute. Girls dig it. Besides a lot of popular kids in my school wear braces. It's just what color bands you get. I just don't wear the rubber bands, but wear the black O's on the brackets. I think the rubber bands look nerdish especially since they aren't black.
