Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

I skimmed this thread quickly, so excuse me if I missed this:
Skin, from Skunk Anansie, is in my opinion THE BEST female singer EVER. She has a unique voice, and she's totally AMAZING live...
You really disappointed me not mentioning her...

Curve
Sorry - just read through that whole thread & unless I skimmed past it, I noticed that nobody has mentioned CURVE!
Just had to sign up here so I could add them to the list. Look forward to hearing some of the other ones mentioned here that I wasn't aware of. Good thread.

Hi Jimsin. Mind if I nag you to make an intro thread in the introductions section? Just a friendly reminder

Emilie Autumn! Her first album was phenominal, and her EP that just came out is still quite good but just....odd.

These last few posts have mentioned
some of my choices but I'll list them anyway.
They all seem pretty obvious to me.
siouxsie sioux
Wendy O Williams
The Great Kat(I've been a fan of hers
for years and I used to think she
wasn't even real)
brody armstrong - Distillers
gen of the genitorturers
Here's some pics I took of the Genitorturers
on 05-13-04 in St. Louis MO
http://www.forcedentryrecords.com/aka100gen.html
exene cervenka in X and the Original Sinners,
shes gonna be here in stl in aug, her backing band
in the Original Sinners, the 7 Shot Screamers are also from here.
theo kogan - lunachicks
bianca butthole - rip - butt trumpet and betty blowtorch
Lords Of Acid, btw for those who mentioned LOA earlier,
almost ALL the songs they ever did has a female lead singer,
mostly Darling Nikki and later Debbie Deb.
The last time they came to STL was Nov of 2001( I think).
I'm still expecting them to to return.
And how can anyone leave out those
sweet adorable little 14 year twin girls
Lamb and Lynx Gaede in Prussian Blue??
There can't be anything cuter than
little 14 year old chicks covering a Skrewdriver song.

Flowing Tears
Lacuna Coil
Lullacry
Arch Enemy
The Gathering
Scheitan
Tiamat
Warmen
Nightwish
Lowemotor Corporation
My Ruin
Holy Moses
Shadow
Evenfall
Madder Mortem
Novembre
Ram-Zet
I've only got an album from one of these and thats Nightwish, so I can't guarentee you anything. Although I liked most of these songs.

There's a kick-ass band on SoundClick dot com known as DeSade, which has a female lead singer. One of the best bands around in my opinion...

Kwan. And Mariko who sings with Tidjan. Marikos voice has developed so much and she sings so beautifully. Okay, okay, they don't play pure rock, but I like this band a lot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuV88...Tainted%20Love
And Sarah Jezebel Diva (?) who sings backing vocals in CoF sings like an angel. It's kind of different voice but it's beautiful.
And Liv Kristine Espenæs Krull who sings in Leaves' Eyes has a beautiful voice too. *heart*

It's probably been mentioned but the girl from Elis had a stunning voice. I really did like their song 'Der Letztes Tag'. Sadly a few weeks ago Sabine, the singer died which is such a shame because they really stood out of the opera female metal pack.
Has Annie Lennox been mentioned either? Her song 'Love Song For A Vampire' is such a striking ballad, it's definitely worth a listen.
Shakespeare's Sister's 'Stay' was also a tune that stuck to me, however that's the only song by them I've heard, so I can't really pass an overall judgement.

Ummm there's a mainstream band I know of. Flyleaf. I'm told the female vocalist is good.

Sara Jezebel Deva - I love her vocals too, she sings backing vocal for The Kovenant also, one of my favorite bands.

Sarah Jezebel Deva has her own band now - Angtoria but she doesn't sing in her operatic voice though, but still very good.

*waves back*
I've only listened to one full track from Angtoria, but from what I've heard the music is very similar to that of Nightwish. As for the vocals S.J.D sings the female parts on some other bands songs (Mortis, C.O.F, Therion) but she sings operatic whereas in Angtoria she's decided to sing normally (I think there's a version of Nymphetamine with her in instead of Liv Kristine E.K & she's singing like that) but it's still very good.
If you go on to the website www.angtoria.com & go on media you should be able to listen to 'Six Feet Under Isn't Deep Enough' (i think that's what it's called).

Nah I only have Freeview (grrrr). It says that Scarlet will also give the full details of the bands history, which is good because I know nothing of them, except the fictional biography which was enclosed in The Blackened Collection about how Lord Vampyre was immortal & what not *sigh* now they've shaken that image off, it's almost like they've became a much more serious band.
