Folgers

I wake up to the sound of my alarm,
slowly but surely, I get up and stretch,
reaching for the cord, I switch on the light,
walk across the room, and turn off the device.

The clothes are on, daily routines completed,
I stumble down the worn steps, and onto the worn carpet,
breeze by the fish, who stare knowing that it's another day.
Oh, and what's a better way to start a day, then with a cup of folers coffee?

As for me, I prefer symbolism. I would have written it as:

From sleep's cocoon
awareness arise
up to the surface
to Chronos' call.

Molasses moves
towards waiting photons
and an undead gait
to still yon servant.

yada yada yada. You get the idea.

Just my two cents worth.

Somnolent, and a call;
The burden of sleep now gone,
ripping darkness with the sun!

A vapor of night falls,
I cast a wicked chime to sleep!
Discordance replaced with gurgling.

blah blah blah ...

We should do a thread on how each person would write a poem about waking up to alarm clocks and coffee and the blazing saddle of the sun carrying us on its perch to a new day. (Did I just make a Mel Brooks reference here -OMG)

And ... I think we are doing just what the previous paragraph suggests ...

I'm too damned tired.

That's awesome! I like it better than mine.
