Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Queen Adreena and Daisy Chainsaw both have/had a female lead. Daisy Chainsaw is nolonger in existence, but it is still possible to buy their music and Katie Jane Garside, lead singer for Queen Adreena, used to be the lead singer of Daisy Chainsaw.

Oh yeah, Angela Gassow has one hell of a voice. Great band all around though. The lead guitarist is very talented.

Hot!? You gotta be kidding me. Go Betty Go is a good up-and-coming all-girl punk band.

A big fat mmmm mmmmm GOOD to the Cocteau Twins..
MORE of my friends got laid to the orgasmically melodic sounds of Heaven or Las Vegas than any other album I can bring to mind..
I Heart Elizabeth Fraser, Like WHOA!! (shivers)
Cherry Colored Funk is still my favorite song on that album..
You MUST own it Kettu, and you must pull it out and play it, the very next time you wanna make some " Sexual Chocolate" with some nice girlie..
Trust me on this one..
I respectfully add This Mortal Coil and Kate Bush
Song to the Siren by This Mortal Coil still creates a cacophony of emotions within me everytime I hear it..
Plus I'll add a dash of Delirium for good measure..
You can download some RealAudio files of their music(legally) here.
I'll post some more later..
Oh, and why the interest in female bands/leads if I may ask?

I don't know if we're keeping it specific to goth bands, but these bands, some punk, some goth, some just rock and "alternative", are fronted by females:
X Ray Spex (Poly Styrene)
Le Tigre (Kathleen Hannah, formerly of Bikini Kill)
Curve
Lush
Voice of the Beehive
Mazzy Star (Hope Sandoval)
Sunshine Blind
Liz Phair (not a band, but I couldn't resist)
Kirsty Maccoll (also not a band, but I love her work)
Daisy Chainsaw
Love Spirals Downwards
Alternating female/male leads:
Vaselines
Enon
The Beautiful South
Sonic Youth
More as I think of them

My favorite band as a youth:
Garbage
And nobody has mentioned Drain STH, the all-female band. Although understandable due to the fact that they broke up in the mid 90's, but still, their music is extremely good.
I'm pretty sure if you like Garbage and Lacuna Coil, you will like Drain STH.
