Or, for more immediate solutions, he could just ignore the person.
I wonder why you hate the ignore feature so much...

Because self-control and maturity would render it completely unnecessary.

Do you honestly expect people to be mature and self-controlled on the Internet?? People can barely be mature and self-controlled IRL! Why on earth would they be that way on a totally anonymous forum or message board?
[I'm not saying people shouldn't be mature and self-controlled, but rather that I've learned not to expect it.]

Yes. One can skim and ignore the written word, they have a harder time face to face. You can choose, without issue, to ignore someone on the web.
My issue is not woth the ignore function, merely what it represents.

Honestly, I think you're worrying about it far too much.
Personally, I think it's an -excellent- feature, and can more than understand why the mods put it into place. [I remember how disgusted I was by Unimatrix's posts, and how -very- glad I was that I could just put her on ignore, and not worry about accidentally reading something I didn't want to read while trying to read the more significant and less disgusting posts I was actually interested in.]. But hey, if you don't like it, then that's fine; you don't have to use it.
As to skimming over things, perhaps -you- can do that, but not everyone has your talent.

Not worried. you replied to a post i made over ten days ago with a question, i answered it. Answering a question is not "worry". I think i found the problem- you're an idiot.

And you're continuing to not only reply to me, but insult me in the process.
Are you really so bored that you -must- converse with an idiot?

It's my not-so-important opinion that the only people who would try to make an adamant case against the ignore function here would be the type of person others would be most likely to want to ignore.
In other words, there are three kinds of people:
1) People who want the ignore function as an option to remove the visibility of unwanted, distateful posts the way a spam filter blocks out undesireable email.
2) People who don't care either way ... they can "ignore" the ignore function.
3) People who can't tolerate the idea that some could choose to not see their oh-so-important posts.
Admit it, the only real reason you could be against this function is if you are an attention-hound and can't stand the idea that somebody could choose to not listen to you.

I actually have something to suggest to the admins, or whoever...
If you put someone on your ignore list, there should also be a way where you can't see their post if they are quoted in someone else's post who you do not have on ignore.
Because there isn't a point to the ignore button unless you can't see the post anywhere else.

Good info Thanks. Personally I think the ignore feature is pointless for some because they need to something/someone to rage against. I would never use the feature myself, but never say never.

Thank you for saying what I was going to already. Having trouble in my intro thread of all places, and don't need the stupidity or headache of bad posts.
You rock!

I've been trying to ignore myself but I'm afraid then it wouldn't let me edit my posts. Also if I ever managed to buy one of those frozen bags of Bosco sticks again, I would want to know where I was, at least temporarily, so that I could eat them. They're really good, they've got like, this weird seasoning that seems like a combination of salt and cheese, and then they're filled with cheese that people almost choke to death on but continually buy with chocolate milk on the side. I think this is why they're served to children in schools, I think a tall evil man with a handlebar mustache invented breadsticks filled with tasty elastic cheese to kill children.
God damn you Uncle Frank!

Seeing as we are under martial law, I decree that all sticky threads are valid to post randomly in from now and until such a time as we are freed from the wave of spam.
Should such a time never come, the sticky threads are forever cameleons in which anything may be posted.
Random away, friends! Random away!

This was a very nice feature I wish other websites/forums had included.
Unfortunately, from what I can tell given recent activity, there are presently under 20 active users, and by "active" I mean people who occasionally read shit and may post a sarcastic comment once ever six months if they feel like it.
This leads me to believe that everyone still on this forum is on the "ignore list" of at least 25 other people.
(except for my worthy self, who tries to get ignored but isn't paid enough attention to be ignored)
