Fuck every last one of you

Hey, I'm back.

Is anyone still here, or have we all left for greener pastures?

Sincerely

Despanan

Cool.

I'm still living in NYC. Regularly in contact with Alan over FB and Gothicus was a correspondent on my radio show for a while. I eventually had to back off from it due to stress & some bigger things happening in my career lately.

Kontan and I are no longer living together but we're still in contact, plus I got engaged last year. You guys may recall that my Girlfriend, now fiancée, had some mysterious illness and we didn't know what it was, turns out it was Crohn's disease. Three years and four surgeries later we've got it under control, at least for the next 15 years or so.

Oh! And Saya: you'll like this - I got my faith back and became a Buddhist again. I joined SGI a few months ago, been chanting ever since, which is super helpful for stress.

Congrats on getting engaged! Glad your girlfriend got a proper diagnosis.

It's been pretty quiet here. I am of the theory that since most of us are friends on Facebook there's no real point anymore, pretty much just here for those I don't have on FB. That and dammit, I want to be the first to get over ten thousand posts. After nearly ten years it's the principal of the thing now.

I am thisclose to graduating, got one more elective to do over the summer and then I can graduate in the fall. Versus and I got engaged and we're living together now. He got voluntold for army recruiting for the next few years, we're in Missouri for now.

Ha! I've been grappling with Voluntaryists/AnCaps over the past year or so - I've been calling it Voluntoldism. You should be happy to know that LOLbertarians have been baring the brunt of Douchebag Despanan.

Glad to hear you two are still together. FB is where most of us are connecting.

I know you and I had our differences - and a big part of it had nothing to do with you, so for the times I was a dick I apologize. I found out my depression came back three years ago at least and I didn't realize it but I had issues with anxiety. I finally noticed the symptoms when I was 31. Also, massive vitamin "D" deficiency which was brought on by living in a basement for three years.

But on the plus side, things have been very good, the secret actually happened and there's been a bunch of awesome stuff happening lately, which I won't go into but overall everything's coming up Millhouse (which I had to explain to my doctor this week).

I have discovered lately that I'm an idealist and I've been struggling to reconcile the world with that, which is surprisingly difficult.

Anyway, welcome to The States! How's living in The South?

P.S. Oh my GOD you were totally right about that whole "new atheists" bullshit. Those guys were terrible and I'm pretty embarrassed I fell for it. But for the record I never sucked as much as most of those fedora wearing neckbeards.

Things actually did kind of suck, nobody's been around. I miss when this place was busy.

Water under the bridge man, but I'm glad you're getting yourself sorted.

We're in a military town so culturally it doesn't seem too different from Colorado Springs, it's just a lot smaller. Most people I've met so far aren't even from here. I still have culture shock; I get weirded out by gun stores on every corner and I have a mini melt down every time I go grocery shopping because food is so cheap here and no one seems to appreciate it or notice it. I'm always like, "Frozen sweet potato fries for a dollar? Back in the old country, it was six dollars for a smaller bag!"

Other than that it kinda feels like a weird alternative universe rural Newfoundland, small towns just seem the same wherever you go.

Acharis, I feel the same. I have other forums I frequent, but Gnet is like that asshole friend who's just too much fun to quit. Well, until the day the MRAs came. I think killing the forums for a little while was worth getting away from that.

I know exactly what you mean. It's like slipping back into those comfy old jeans, if they were liberally filled with sand. Can't stay away.

MRAs? I only remember one dude and I think I blocked so I didn't have to see.

There were two, but it was enough to make every conversation an exercise in futility.
