Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Hello Fasker,
I too have an appreciation for the Dark-Flavored Trip/Hop. Have loved PortisHead since 'Dummy' came out, Long... Long Ago. Massive Attack is also great. Dissolved Girl, Flat Of The Blade... Good Stuff!
Now, Death Grips, and Allflaws I have not heard yet. So, I'll have to give them a listen.
Something I've been really enjoying lately is a band named "Corpo-Mente'. They are a little Experimental Trip/Hop, and a little Baroque. With some great but unusual vocals.(think funeral opera with angst) You mentioned sounds from all over the world, all styles. So, thought you might enjoy that one.

Hey thanks. Will check out Corpo-Mente. Yes I love Portishead and Massive Attack. A great sound. And yes Dissolved Girl is such a great track. One of my favorites from the Trip Hop Genre.

More industrial but haunting and raw. Production is very much like that of Nine Inch Nails. This from her new album

If you guys are into PortisHead, you might find this one interesting...
Gonga featuring vocals by Beth Gibbons (PortisHead)
Covering 'Black Sabbath' by Black Sabbath

For some reason everyone I know who likes PortisHead also likes OLD Black Sabbath.
Her voice actually works really good with this type of Metal.
I would love to see her do a side project like this.
Enjoy...

KeineModalen,
Thanks for the list. I'm only half way through it, But I like a lot of what I've heard. (Couple songs from each) I think Keluar is the most seductive of what I've heard. (So far...) November Novelet also has an interesting sound. I'll be listening to more of these two.
I am a music junkie! So I love to check out new sounds.
New shapes for my brain to digest.
If you haven't already you should check out Fever Ray.

KeineModalen, I finished your first list.
Based on what I've heard I enjoyed 1,3,4,7,and on the fence about 8.
The Keluar song 'Rupture' sounded great on my house system. But I think their video for 'Rivers' is trying to give me a seizure. So I went to Bandcamp and got their self-titled release. They have a minimalistic sound that reminds me of some older electronic bands.
Washing it down tonight with Absinthe and Black Lights.
Maybe, If the Muse comes to me, I'll plug in and play along.
Thanks again for the share!
I'm gonna come back in a bit for you second list... After I Digest These New Shapes.

There is a lot of music to find.
The Eternal Afflict - San Diego (The Tragical)
Was a huge hit in the Goth-clubs in Germany.
You have to just imagine everyone dancing to this, It became this dark moving mass.
