Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Some tattoos are seen as distasteful and very unprofessional. Especially ones on the hands, fingers, neck, and face.
The corperate world is a much different place. I could use the same exaple with clothing. In a professional environment, you can't go to work looking like a scrub. Appearance plays a large role in the workplace.
Also, tattoos are self inflicted, unlike the example of scars that resulted from accidents.
The bottom line is that if an employer doesn't like the way you look, they won't hire you. Simple. What they can't do, is tell you that, unless they wan't to deal with human rights.
The world of executives and white collar workers, is a very close-minded conservative one. It will take a long time for that to change.
In the meantime, I'll wear my long sleeve shirts in this scortching hot weather, wear my hair in a plain style, and conform to blend in with the others. It's well worth the salary.

That makes me glad I do not work in a corporate environment. Although the salary would be nice

No. Over in Australia it's illegal to tattoo a minor even with parental consent.

I have a small heartagram on my ankle, tragus, daith, cartlige, and lots more to come. I've also had a monroe, septum, and lip ring, and a toungue web. I want a corset piercing, and horizontal tongue too.

Just FYI, 99% of those piercings are temporary.

And 99% of the ones that aren't reject.
If you don't want it to reject, get microdermals and put little hooks on them after they heal.

There are also some popular religions in which getting a tattoo is considered a spiritual experience.

I remember at one of my jobs (store clerk), I used to have to wear a scarf over my hair because it was blue.
My employer started getting very paranoid (You don't want to know where I was working), and demanded I wrap a bandage around my tattoo. (Eyebrow raised, but not questioning, I did so) Regulars, who knew what was under it, used to constantly ask: "Sooo....that cut healed yet?" (insert wink/smirk)

maggot: That type of thing is not uncommon. I've seen people who had to cover their facial piercings with band-aids. I think it's total BS.

A store that sold very...we shall call them "interesting", for modesty's sake, wares. Though I had my strong suspicions that the owner was selling a certain type of plant in the back room. The smell was evidence enough.
He believed that none of his employees should have identifying marks. We were paid well enough above normal wage to just go along with his paranoia.

Do you mean newspaper or magazine articles? That would be a negative. I'm actually a legal assistant.

I was reading some sex articles, and a few were written by a chelseagirl. I thought maybe it was you.

They insist on that in my work. I fail to see how having a bright blue plaster on your face would be less distracting than wearing a small stud. The personel manager in my work once suggested I wear one because the hole where my lip stud would be was too visible :S

I don't normally care for tattoos, but I have a picture of this one that I thought was absolutely beautiful. Just thought I'd share:
Note: Could be considered nudity, but everything is covered and decent!
