Shill Post your website announcements here. Anything that is blatantly SPAM (nigerian schemes, make money fast, etc) will be deleted. Actually, we'd probably keep the nigerian schemes around to make fun of it. |

I'm don't really consider myself morally superior. I'm an atheist. Since I am, I have an inherent distrust of positive spiritual claims. It doesn't really have much to do with weather people find it culturally important or not. I just think any positive spiritual claim is a mistaken claim.
I'm okay with people finding that distasteful.

Well not basing your religious views on weather is probably for the best. Though I suppose that route does have a lot of history.

None of that even remotely answers why the people here wouldn't say they'll use the Qur'an as rolling papers as often as they'd say so about the Bible.

I thought you were talking about something else. Honestly, I'd think it was ill advised to use any kind of text as rolling papers. Smoking is bad enough, I don't think smoking ink would be too good for your health, really.

Not me! I just find that parts of it get you much higher ... like Leviticus, Judah and Song of Solomon. Yep, the raunchy parts of the bible get you higher.
And Genesis is particularly good for blowing your mind!

Genesis...isn't that the one where people speculate that Cain's wife was a monkey? Talk about some sick fucks.

Wha? Is it because of the whole "God created Adam and Eve" and people assume that they were the first and only humans?
The Old Testament is a compilation of different texts that existed before, and they don't blend together well in parts. In Genesis chapter 1, you get one account of creation where God clearly makes all of humankind, not just two, and they're free to eat whatever the fuck they want. In Genesis chapter 2, you get the different account with Adam and Eve.
Then Cain goes on his merry way and meets his wife, and builds a city, Enoch. There had to be way more people back then to fill a city.
I don't get people who take the Bible literally. Its easier to appreciate once you realize the multivocality.

My little brother went to a private baptist school in Georgia. She's telling the truth. I will sign an affidavit to this effect.

I think it's partly because of the side conversations that keep happening, and partly because the troll keeps bumping it.
