Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Cradle of Filth gothic??? You are lost.
Goth music is batcave, deathrock and gothic rock. The rest isn't gothic.
Oh, sure, we can listen another music.

Amy Lee is pretty....but her voice is NOTHING without Synthesizers and machines.

I agree - Amy Lee is pretty.
I disagree that her voice needs to be synthsized to sound good. Her live album (CD/DVD set) Anywhere But Home has her doing a lot of live singing sets while warming up for a show. It's rather amazing that her voice sounds nearly identical live as it does on an album.
I look forward to a new album, though I don't rank Evanescence at the top of my listening preferences.

Niennor it seems like you might be trying just a little bit too hard to come across as "uber-goth". Sorry. You failed.
And don't tell me what to listen to, I have enough voices in my head to do that for me........

I LOVE EVANESCENCE! Amy Lee is one of the most beautiful people in the world! I also LOVE how she is NOT some slutty whore, and CAN put together an amazing outfit and look like a goddess! Her voice is AMAZING! She can reach really high notes on her own which is not as easy as it would appear!
Last I heard their new albim comes out in 2006. Don`t know the exact month but since tomarrow is the 1st, I won`t be paitient or still (hyper I will be!) until it`s here!

Amy Lee has a good voice. That is all. I don't anything else about the band. Their guitarwork is uninspired, and their lyrics are overdramatic-- and everyone knows how much I hate drama. (You probably didn't know, but now you do! Ha!)
I must correct myself-- their name is pretty cool, too. It amuses me that half of their fans can't seem to spell it correctly.

Hrm. In order to be completely fair, I'm now listening to Evanescence. I must admit that they are better than I remembered, especially the guitarwork and keyboards. While not transcendant or even very good, on a few songs it actually sounds quite original. Tourniquet and Whisper are rather good songs.
However, I still don't count them among my favorites. I still loathe most of their fans-- they're like Mansonites, just wimpier. (No offense to the fans that are actually worthy of praise. You know who you are-- it's a shame that the others think I'm referring to them.)

I can't outright hate her as atleast she makes music and has a deal. But My Immortal..... That song.... Overplayed and well.... Just not me. Ugh.

I own their CD as well, but it's been sitting in the case for quite some time. They're not bad, but they're not all that great either. I guess you could say that I got tired of them rather quickly...

Evanescence reminds me of writing stories with sad endings. Especially the vocalist (amy Lee), she reminds of my girlfriend!!!!!

amy lee says that she's a choir nerd, and her voice seems angelic, i think she's my inspiration in my write-ups, and her music seems enlighten and preserve me, while boyband, teen and bubblegum pop seems destroyed me.
