-When they sincerely think Spooky Contacts and Prostetics make them Vampyres (Note the Y, Kids.)
-When they get Pissy, indignant and dramatic AfterTheir Boobie balloons get popped(There was a girl at the club who was using a balloon to assist in her flatness, and she was acting all superior because of it, so a guy I know 'burst her ego')
-When the DJ has to put up a No Death metal sign because of your Requests

Honestly, though, since Goth is really an aesthetic choice and a state of mind, can there really be a wannabe? I mean, don't all these negative traits just make them a goth that happens to suck?

Seeing this thread was made by some little skin goth who was hoping we would confirm her 'gothiness'... I agree with you Minister..... but what I'm doing here is A) poking at the follies of other Goths and B) Pointing out some stereotypes that common culture makes out to be us, when really its not.

If it's a state of mind, I think you can have wannabes; that is, people who want to have that state of mind... but just don't get it. They don't have that state of mind, but they try to copy the outside signs (clothing, music) to make people believe that they do have that state of mind.

Not sure if that made sense. Maybe an example would clarify:

I would compare the goth wannabe to the soldier wannabe. He doesn't have the training or mental discipline of a real soldier (therefore, the mindset of a soldier), but he wears camoflauge and mimics some of the solider's behaviors. Same would go for ninja wannabes. :)

I'd agree with the Tall one.. there are definitely those who find the Gothic image enticing but simply don't feel it. Comparing them to lemmings would seem cliché and overdone, but the metaphor simply works.
Hot topic, as an example. Most people who frequent the shop liked the pirate motif before Hot Topic noticed that it was trendy and filled its stores with pirate merch after Pirates of the Caribbean. Likewise for those who simply see a movie and like the look of Goth compared to those who’ve been Goth’s lover for years.

now if you really are an intellectual (Which is what I like to hope of everyone in the initial stages of any conversation), you wouldn't have come on here, stirring shit up, making rude comments and attacking those who have done nothing to offend you in the first place.

I will be rude, lewd and crude if I know others around are open to such, but If there is someone entering a convesation, I try my damnest to avoid offending someone.
