How can you tell a wannabe??

Hey everybody, soz its been a while since I have actually posted. I was just wondering but how can you tell a wannabe goth from a real goth?? What sort of signs are their?? If somebody could please help by explaining that would be great!!

Yeah, NOEL is right, and a goth (to me) tends to be a LOT more intellectual than most people....plus, they read a LOT more....and have really good taste in music...

Have you pissed on anyone lately? If not, I'm standing right next to the fire hydrant...but anyhow, a real goth wouldn't be trying to brag about it and is (in my opinion) usually laid back and if something happens.....well, ho-lee-shit....just deal with it....

How to Tell a Wanna Be Goth from a Real one (By Polished_wolf_claws)

1.Name is taken from some famous book or media piece of Gothic stock/ potential gothic backgrounds (IE: CTHULHU_LOVERZ, JACK_SKELL, SAMHAIN)
2. if you put alot of X's in the name (xGOTHxKIDx)(Note, this bars foriegn/coded languages... such are exempt from this rule)
3. alot of devil connotations (Devil_Worshipper_666, or anything with 666)
4. poor english (This is based on english speakers ONLY, I understand that this language is complex... but if your Born into it, there should be NO PROBLEM with writing what, instead of Wats, or wots... things like that)
5. Not knowing the difference between wannabes and actuals.
6. leet is used in more than just humorous matters (IE: CONSTANTLY)

I am really not one to label myself as anything, I also make no claims one way or another about who or what I am. I tend to be more of an individualist, and I can't really be true to that if I lump myself in with any group. As for my user name, it's a character I made up for a story I wrote.

To drayhorn, I really like your quote and the philosophy behind it. It is good to see that honor still means something to some people.

As for how to tell wannabe goths from goths, if you really have to ask.......you get the idea. Goth is about a creative spirit with an understanding of the darker side of things. It is about individuality, and how you see the world.

Perhaps the reason some people do it (and I've only seen you do it) is because maybe they rely on medication most of the time; from the simple NyQuil, to the Pepto-Bismol or Anti-depressants, they're all medication, and if you rely on them enough, and use them enough, maybe that's why you named yourself that. Actually it was a tongue-in-cheek comment on polished_wolf_claws' post. And no, I'm not generally on any kind of medication, my name's because for one thing NyQuil is a lovely emeraldy shade of green, and another because Denis Leary did a whole sketch on NyQuil one time that I found hilarious.

I wasn't asking why I chose the name, I was trying to be funny, with the comments about the odd things people do with usernames.

You're not really winning Brownie points with me either, but I'm not quite at the point of disliking you yet, since I really don't know you well enough to put that kind of emotional attatchment towards you.
