Truth be told, I'm into the whole vampire thing, too. But it's more of a fascination with the idea rather than a belief in any kind of vampire "religion."

So, for the record, I do not believe that I'm a vampire. I do not drink blood (though I have). I don't think that I have, urm, powers.

A lot of us are captivated by the idea of vampires, I personally think vampires kick ass. This is not of what Gothic Piano is speaking, however.

It's more than thinking that vampires "kick ass." I constantly consider what it would be like to be a vampire, where I would go, what I would do, who I would remove from the gene pool. In my mind I create all sorts of different personas of who I could be. Then I write all this stuff down. It's my hope that some of it could come to be of use in stories that I write.

Houses usually mean the opposite, don't they? Last time I checked, vampires were not part of Wiccan/pagan religion.

I wonder who would win in a race between him and the Jesus lizard, I'd totally pay to see that!

One does have to wonder why it is considered any less reasonable to claim that one has magical powers, than to claim that some Jewish carpenter who lived in a desert on the other side of the Earth a long time ago did.

This is true.

This thread split my sides and now I hurt.

Because 'vampires' should be able to show off their vampire powers. Jesus is dead, so any claim regarding him can be neither substantiated nor outrightly dismissed. An appropriate analogy would be me telling you I'm riding a magical purple unicorn while standing in front of you clearly not atop a purple unicorn vs. me telling you I once rode a magical purple unicorn.
For Christians pretending to have powers, see Faith Healers.

How long have you been pracitcing wicca? My guess would be about....... three minutes?

Because " getting energy from another individual " in whatever form is harmful. Both by taking blood ( which is a fantastically easy way to end up getting a disease ) or so called " psychic vampirism " ( which supposedly drains energy from the body ) and the wiccan rede states " an it harm none do as ye will " . By doing this you effectively break the wiccan rede, YES even if the other person is willing.

Wicca also has absolutely NOTHING to do with vampirism. At all. Ever.

I for one cannot imagine Gerald Gardener swooping about in a cape, Quotng Anne Rice , Bram Stoker and " feeding " from people ,fond as he was of ceremonial magic and ritual.

I'm not saying you cannot love vampire literature and group culture, and be wiccan as well,I am certain many do . But to claim it is any form of " religion " or has anything to do with Wicca is spectacularly ignorant and mindless.

Lol. Yes, I think that puts it nicely in its place. I submit to your well advised choice of analogy, and everything you say minus "nor outrightly dismissed". :D

I'm not crazy about the idea of bring shit into my sexual life--I'll be damned if that means I don't have an open mind.

Maybe the fact that you believe you need to steal energy (and yes, it would be stealing) from others is what's turning us off.
