Yeah, I pretty much loathe the smell, haha.

Nice avatar, by the way.

I like black licorice, would it be okay then? :D

Sadly its too expensive for me to justify trying it. I'll stick with me rum.

It tastes and smells similar to Ouzo, which is significantly less expensive and you can find a bottle of decent quality Ouzo for $15-20. Traditionally you mix a little bit of cold water with the Ouzo before drinking it and it turns from clear to cloudy white.

XXChristabelXX 12-02-2008 01:45 PM

or pour the ouzo over kasseri cheese and set it aflame, yelling OPA!!! like the greeks do on the southside of the city. seriously. it's scrumptious. I don't think absinthe has the same cheesy immolationy appeal.

MollyMac 12-02-2008 08:34 PM

Ouzo is worse than absinthe- but even the smell of anise is revolting to me.

Keep it simple.

Bacardi 151. One shot and you're good. If it takes you more than one shot, I seriously believe you're doing it wrong.

It's a very strong drink but only 1 shot? You're a lightweight, buddy. Might as well throw a cute little dress on you and smack you on the ass.

Corpsey 12-02-2008 09:46 PM

I make homebrew Liqueurs. Beats top-shelf any day, and it's cheap as hell in comparison to other top-shelf beverages.

If I do buy from the shop, It'l be Midori or some kind of Whiskey/Burbon. One day I hope to learn how to make an 80% Whiskey or try it out when my I visit my Grandparents in England.

That'll own any kind of fucking Anise-based alcohol.

Saya 12-03-2008 01:16 AM

Ever have Fireball Whiskey? Two or three shots of that and I'm reeling :D

Isn't that the one that catches fire?

Solumina 12-03-2008 10:23 AM

Lots of drinks can catch fire, pretty much anything over 50 proof can be set on fire, though if you are talking about people blowing fireballs then you would want something that is at least 80 proof.

I meant that I've heard stories about Bacardi 151 catching fire at room temperature.

That's completely unfuckingtrue.

It's his hormones talking.

Why I remember my awkward teenage years when I gave thought to stories of spontaneous combustion, which was the style at the time.

No, that's not possible. I mean, do you think they would sell something that's very chemically unstable for human consumption?

People will sell whatever makes them a good profit.

Yeah, I suppose that's true, but I would guess that if Bacardi 151 did spontaneously combust then there would have been some complaints...

Cicero 12-04-2008 04:11 AM

People will sell whatever makes them a good profit... without getting sued. And I think selling a spontaneously combustible drink would quickly fall under the 'getting sued' category.

In other news, I'm actually quite a fan of absinthe. It's one of the only alcoholic beverages that doesn't make me nauseous after a single glass, and I rather enjoy the taste with cold water and a sugar cube. I also enjoy ouzo.

twistedsyn 12-15-2008 09:28 PM

Wow there are some perverts on here

This is the last time I come to this place......Using filthy language..... I found your remarks highly offensive....

Oh wait, that's from the movie Clerks...Nevermind.
