Why I hate Emo people

I hate Emo people at the moment. Not because they're Emo, but because most people I know confuse Emo with Goth without understanding either subculture. I don't dress Emo (Demonia boots are Emo now), I don't listen to Emo music (much... I have one My Chemical Romance CD), I don't whine about being depressed or lonely. Actually, I don't hate Emos so much as my friends are ignorant jerks. Now I am sad... Sorry if I offended anyone with the thread title.

Emo is dead. That makes it really Goth, right? And it's popular, too--so being dead is popular, which is good, because Goth is dead.

Good thing I'm not Goth--I just like the music, and the clothes, and the makeup, and all the other things about it. But I'm not Goth though. For sure.

Actually, Emo seems to stem from the ever name changing form of "New Wave" that was probaby something else before it was "New Wave" also... back in the day I theorized it was "Beatniks." Beatnik culture supposedly died, then became New Wave, then something else and now we're working on Emo. Actually, since New Wave became Dark Wave that became Goth I enjoy parts of the music, not all of it though... gets too whiney sometimes. (It may have been New Age after being New Wave.) They need to figure out a name that will stick.

It's fun to joke about... however, IRL it isn't important... if some one can't tell and emo kid from a goth kid... its prolly cause the lines are blurry...a lot of the shit that is currently associated with emo.. cutting, depression and bad poetry... used to be associated with goth.. so thank the emo kids for taking the pressure off....

I actually was only semi-serious about this thread. It wasn't the best day for me, and well, the board is titled whining. People are going to use it for such. I just wanted to bitch about it and I didn't expect anyone to take it seriously. On a side note, had a great 4th hanging out with said jerk friends.

Vlh: I could care less about Emos. No one's called me one yet, and even if they did, I'd probably just be thrilled that someone in my area knows what Emos are in the first place. lol

I get more annoyed by hearing about them on the Internet than anything in reality.

I wouldn't say I hate them. I mean... I don't spend every hour [or any hour at all] of my life trying to exterminate them.
Their [generally speaking] shallowness, and desire to shove their MCR CD down my throat annoys me yes, and I would turn over the radio if that stuff came on, as does the whole "uniquer than thou" attitude...

But hate is a very strong word & should be used sparingly.
Not just because it's a strong word... But because your hatred should be saved for those who truly deserve it, so don't degrade it's power by saying you hate some annoying [to you/me] teenage subculture.

^ MCR isn't -all- bad. The song and video for "Helena" helped me get through my mom's death. [If there's one thing that the death of a loved one will make you want to do, it's scream like a banshee.]

I don't like them so much on CD, but I'd go see a show if they came to my area; I've heard it's pretty entertaining, "mad doctor" kind of stuff.
