New person. Fancy that~
I'm terrible at introductions, so maybe we should just skip to the usual fourteen questions, eh?
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Primarily, I play the guitar. I have slight experience with bass, keyboard, and drums, but guitar is where things are for me. It isn't so much of a hobby as it is a lifelong devotion. There's three guitars I own: a cherry burst Les Paul Standard from 2001, a black custom made by Benavente Guitars, and my third is a recently-acquired Schecter C-7 Hellraiser. Lovely guitar, black with abalone inlay around the body and a 'gothic cross' inlay in the fingerboard. I was more interested in getting a white one but black was all they had at the time. Oh well.
Other than that... Well, to be honest, I spend so much time on guitar that I don't do much else. I try and keep somewhat active, although not to build muscle or anything of the sort. Don't have a job.
2. Where are you from?
In the middle of nowhere. No, really, Grants Pass, Oregon is more or less the middle of nowhere. At least in the section of town I live in. It's nice and quiet though. The woods are beautiful, and time in the rain and snow here is to die for.
3. Who is your favorite author?
Either Charles Dickens or Edgar Allen Poe. Couldn't get enough when I was introduced to it in what... fifth grade?
4. What are your favorite films?
I don't watch too many new films, although The Dark Knight and Watchmen were two that very much stood out to me. I have a thing for more morbid or introspective-in-presentation documentaries, or older films. For the former, among other things I have a copy of both 'Sword of the Samurai' and 'Budo: The Art of Killing' lying around. I'm into those sorts of things.
... I also do of course enjoy something to make me laugh on occasion.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
'Harvest', by Opeth. Although I don't plan on getting married.
6. At your funeral?
Also by Opeth, 'The Funeral Portrait'.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Preferably in some very gory fashion, but entertaining at the same time. Why not have a death that people can derive some enjoyment from simply by knowing it happened? Like, you know, flying out of a car window and splattering into little pieces across the highway. I saw a dog like that once, and I thought it was hilarious. Would be even more hilarious to see a PERSON like that, even if it was me.
Either that or dying on stage or something. I am a musician, after all.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
None. I would prefer to be cremated, thank you.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I don't have very much money to speak of to actually get an outfit I want, so it tends to be just a black shirt, black pants, black shoes, things like that. Or white. I tend to enjoy mixing a lot of white in, the contrast is very appealing to me. Occasionally I wear some darker reds or blues.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I didn't have to concern myself with as many things as I do now, as in I didn't have so many things on my mind. Things I liked even now were around when I was a little kid. Many of those things have actually been ruined by companies looking to make a quick dollar.
Also, my family was a bit more 'together' when I was a kid. Everyone still hated each other but I had a few cousins that I enjoyed being with. Now 90% of the family consists of fundamentalist Christian zealots(No offense meant to any Christians, of course, I'm not one to group people together) that've made my life hell since... actually since I was about 11. My parents seem to be getting a divorce, and I've been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I do, however, refuse to be medicated for such.
11. What's your favorite band?
I can't decide on one currently, although my top five would be(in no particular order) Nevermore, Opeth, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, and Seventh Wonder. To be perfectly honest, anything I listen to tends to be defined as a 'favorite band', because I'm somewhat picky with what I listen to. Other times a few songs by a band will stick out to me but I won't like any other works of theirs. However, being myself, I tend to get a hold of all of that band's works anyways if they have something that appeals to me just to support them, or to see if anything will grow on me.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I'm a high school graduate. That's about it. Not particularly planning on anything for college.
13. Why did you join?
I actually don't even remember how I found this site in the first place. Rather creepy. Although when I started to just browse as a guest something just sort of told me to join. You know, the whole 'I see like-minded people' thing.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Wouldn't you like to know?
Well erm, I hope I didn't come off as one of those pretentious new people or anything. Although if I did, obviously I didn't mean to. And that means that you should love me, because I'm awesome~

I spy with my little eye... A PRETENTIOUS NEW PERSON!
Just kiddin'. Note to self: be nice to my fellow newbies.
Mixing some white in with black really does make a nice contrast. Ooh, I should get some white accessories. Maybe some earrings, and a belt.... *mutters to self*
Glad to see that you don't lump people together based on the actions of a few nutcases. That sort of thing only leads to hostility and usually violence.
Other than that, the "What is your gender?" question is there for a reason. It makes pronouns much, much easier. You don't want people to go around calling you s/he/it, which takes very little effort to turn into another word entirely, do you?
What do you think, other people? Can s/he/it stay?

Emily: I always like to see how long I can go with people confusing my gender on some sites. If you really have to know, I'm male. Although, oddly enough, people tend to confuse my gender on sites as oftentimes my avatar has some female character or entity in it.
Or you can call me s/he/it, I don't mind.

Welcome! No wedding, why? Do not believe, no time, not fair, or cannot have?

The concept of a wedding just doesn't really appeal to me, personally. I respect anyone who thinks otherwise of course but it's just not something that I like myself.
Also, well, let's just say that while I can get along with a lot of people doesn't mean I like being around them. I'm very much a hermit type, although there are a couple friends I have.

Because it's an antiquated ritual with only symbolic purpose at best and comes from an arguably misogynistic history?

I thought it was a tax break, or for Soldiers a way to stay dating and not have to got to different duty stations, or to give a friend medical benefits and such.
I myself prefer a hand fasting or a binding ceremony.

I totally understand Alan's frustration. This shit is just retarded.
You don't seem AWFUL, however. So welcome.
