Pornographic Banners?

Has anyone else noticed how many pornographic sites advertise on Gothic.net? I know its an adult site, but I still find it unnerving to pull up a site that looks like its about subculture and to be bombarded with boobs!!!

Just wondering if anyone else had an opinion.

God, how can one not miss them? Usually I don't mind them, but I can't post here without seeing: SPOOKYHOTTIES, CUM WATCH ME PLAY, LIZVICIOUS PORNOGRAPHY SO HAWT CLICK FUCKERZ CLICK~~~!!1111
My opinion on it generally is alright, at least such an industry is accepting toward goth and giving its own place-but still it's all about PRONRORNPRONPRON

The bad news for me is I can't come on here at work thanks to that. My boss is the guy who controls the filters for the internet access for the entire district and those banners came up as explicit. Fortunatly for me he understood the fact that there are banners and pop ups like that but I don't want to incur his wrath again.

There are banners...? I happen to miss them for some reason...maybe because I just go straight to the boards rather than the homepage.

I love blueblood. It's not trashy I don't think. Their philosophy is sub culture people sharing their beauty and eccentricities. I especially like the couples. They're so creative and adorable looking being all happy with each other and stuff.

Heh - all those sites, including this one, are owned by the same group.

Personally, I view them as what they are - banners. If you don't like them, ignore them.

I wouldn't call them pornographic by any means though.

99% of all 'goth' stuff you find in searches on the web, P2P, etc. all is pr0n. Like the tourists that come to the clubs in khakis looking for girls in BDSM attire, the same reality exists online.

Also note, because of that, it funds this site 100% so its probably best not to pull at that thread too much.

All I usually see are ads for anime, horror movies, dating sites, and Gutter Master. Now, the last sounds like it could be a great transient porn (transient porn, not tranny porn) site, it's not. Too bad, too. I've met some really hot gutter punk chicks.

I got FIRED from some place because they said I visited GOTH.net.

They said they loved my work but did not want "your kind of people" around their offices.

Nice.

Well, that may have been strange but a lot of places DO do stuff like that now ESPECIALLY in the South. BEWARE and do NOT use the internet at ALL at work for personal reasons. THEY WILL FIRE YOUR ASS. Do not put it past them.

They fired you?!!?! Isn't that some form of wrongful dismissal and/or discrimination? I'm pretty sure I can get suspended from school for coming here, but they could also suspend me for wearing chains too. Wouldn't that be like if they expelled me for being a goth? Thats total bullshit. What company was it? I want to boycott them.

Here is the deal with that.....
Florida is a RIGHT TO WORK STATE. That means that a private company (a non-government entity) can dismiss you for ANY reason and THEY DO NOT LEGALLY HAVE TO TELL YOU SQUAT.

Mutual of Omaha did not tell me either. I found out later why. Lady next desk to me deemed me a "satanist" and reported me to corporte and also reported that I used the F word IN the office. (I was using mycell in the restroom and she must have overheard or over heard my husband RAGGING over the phone but sheesh. She had to have had bat hearing.)

Anyway, places can dismiss you and they do not have to tell you DOGSHIT.
That is what RIGHT TO WORK means and if you live in a RIGHT TO WORK STATE, guess what? Yep.

Wow...no offense to anyone who supports that system, but in my humble opinion thats completely retarded. I may be seeing this wrong, but doesn't that mean that your boss or whoever is in charge of you could fire you for absolutely any reason at all? Even something as simple as "I don't like your shirt"? If they don't have to give a reason for dismissal, does that mean that if your boss doesn't like you personally, but has no real reason to dismiss you, you're basically fucked anyway? Presuming the boss in question is highly unethical at least...

I apologize if I'm being dense or rude or anything like that, I'm just a Canadian teenager trying to understand how your system works.

Yes. This is unfair. It gives us grunts NO rights. If you are working in a RIGHT TO WORK state they can dismiss you and NOT have to tell you why. AT ALL. These laws also state that YOU can leave THEM as well and not tell them dogsqueeze as well. You have that right but THEY have that right as well. However, it is dead true. Look it up yourself. Google RIGHT TO WORK STATE LABOR LAWS and you'll see it. What can we in the U.S. do about it? NOTHING except vote the folks who made these RIGHT TO WORK laws OUT of office.

NOW....

It looks like I have hijacked the topic here with out even intending to. On some on line communities, this would get a yelling at from one of the moderators. (I won't mention which on line communities)

SO.... we get back to WHAT WEBSITES are NOT WORK SAFE due to the banners on the pages or whatnot. What i was getting at is that in the (mostly Southern parts) of the United States where there are no unions.... all of us office grunts must be careful. I have learned. The PC at your desk at work IS NOT YOURS and YOU CANNOT surf on there. Yes, they should tell you that before you get hired there but most places do not. Also, "goth" SCARES certain kinds of people as you well know. Very conservative (and sadly, Christan folks or people who claim as such) think that we are "satanists" or "witches" or just downright negative and bad. This is knee jerk reaction JUDGMENT. It is NOT right. BUT.... there is little we can do about it.

So, just don't go to this or any other "questionable" site at work or EVEN ON YOUR BREAK. Like I said.... I have learned the hard way by losing my job for it. I was just making sure the connection WORKED like they TOLD me to do. So, hell... I did a dumb thing and punched in a random site address that popped in my head. WWW.GOTH.NET Holy hell broke loose and I got reported for that by the lady next to me. She was freaked out by it.

This can happen to you too. It just depends WHERE you work and WHAT their policies are.

Is there porn on this site? No. I have not seen anything personally. Still, I don't go on here at places that are persnickety.

Virginia is another 'right to work state'. They had the same policies at the companies there - plus all government offices have that policy. When I was working for 'the man' I saw half a dozen people get sacked merely for visiting websites that the state deemed 'inappropriate'. Not, pr0n or anything, just sites they thought were a waste of employee time.

I remember a court case back in 2000 involving employees who were forced to show up and be ready to clock in at their job 10 minutes before they were schduled to work. They refused, and argued if the company wanted them there at 8:50AM, they should schedule them at 8:50AM, since they are NOT paid for that time.

They were sacked, and the judge sided with the company stating if the company policy is to be there and ready to go 10 minutes early, even if your not paid you have to be there, else you can be fired.

'Right to work' is a nice way of saying, 'no rights, except to work, when the company wants you to'.

It also means that you do not have to be in a union to work, which is where the term comes from. Don't get me started on that topic...

It's crazy how f*d up some employers all over the country are. Then again, you have Sears, where so many people who don't do their work and they never get fired. They get to work on time and mind their business and that seems to be enough. Amazing. I love my job. No, really, I do. I couldn't work with a bunch of uptight jerks. The place you described LaKeesha sounded like a bunch of uptight jerks.

Uhm, what are you talking about?

There are no LizVicious banners on this site, certainly no 'cum watch me play' etc. I mean, there might occasionally be a stray adultish banner on one of the many external banner exchanges we're running on the bottoms of some of the pages here, but I don't really see what you are claiming to see, and we don't control the content of those exchanges. If one gets really bad, we'll potentially drop it, but a lot of adult sites are not being accepted in a lot of the community promotional tools available on this site.

The BlueBlood banners that run on this site are for BlueBlood.net, which is a community and news site and is about as adult oriented as this site. It is also completely free.

Ghooot....you got me on the Lizvicious thing, I just thought it was a good goke
But anyway, I saw some adult banners that showed women holding their breasts, which was the worst. They're constant, really.
