Broken.

So here's what happened:

My fave CD got stuck in the player.
It broke.
I'm a pack rat and didn't want to trash it.
So I cut it up into squares.
And then was like, "Now what?"
However, today, my dad's girlfriend bought me a purple shirt and I realized it would be cool to put the CD bits around the collar, because it's pretty plain.
I have fabric glue, and it's pretty durable.
The issue arises in the CD.
Will the pieces be damaged in the wash?
I'm not sure if anyone's ever put a CD in the wash, but hey, there's some surprising people here XD.

Interesting. I think that is a cool idea.

Your right, there are a lot of interesting people here so maybe some one can give you some insight.

However, in the alternative, if no one reponds they have done it, perhaps, you can take one for the team (so to speak) and try it out and let us know how it goes.

It might work out well.

If you aren't sure, take a piece and submerge it in water with whatever laundry detergent you use, give it a scrub, and compare it to the others. That sounds like a really awesome idea, please post pics, I might have to adapt it to something of my own

Or you could just hand wash it and avoid the problem all together, the problem won't be the soap, it'll be the motion of the washing machine.

It should be okay on the delicate cycle but then you would have the issue of it catching on your other delicates so to me the best option seems to be hand washing (this should not mess up the look of the cd as I have washed one before and it came out looking exactly the same, though I used dish soap but that is harsher so logically it would be more likely to cause issues) though I would skip any fabric softener as that would be likely to leave residue on the fragments

CD's are waterproof. I know this from unfortunate experiences with incontinent dogs near piles of precious Peep Show DVD's...

I'd still handwash the shirt though. Bits glued onto the clothing will inevitably come off in a washing machine eventually. Better safe than sorry.

Water should not hurt, not sure about the detergent though. Actually as some suggested hand-washing would be best, at least that way it will not rub all over itself and possibly cause some of the CD pieces to physically scratch up the others in the machine.

Scratching is inevitable unless you wash it on it's own. As said before, it should be good on a delicate cycle.

Eeh... You might risk the silvery bit of the cd falling off when it comes in contact with water. And yes, I did ruin a perfectly great audio book by putting the exposed cd's in the same bag as a leaky water bottle. Not a good idea. Oh, and there's the risk of slicing open your neck artheries... uh... heh. That's be an... interesting... injury to show the ambulance people.

Ooh. Min, you have a point.
Thanks all. In conclusion, I've decided it's probably best to hand wash it, so I can control where the water hits.
No detergent. I had a hard time practice gluing them. Whenever I got any glue on a piece it made a white blemish. So I'll have to be careful what comes into contact with them.

I'm glad you all like my idea.
As soon as I can find a camera, I'm taking pics.
This is something I think I'll be pretty proud of.
