Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Rozz Williams
I've listened to Christian Death (real CD, not Valor's crap) and Shadow Project, but I've never actually listened to William's actual solo works.
What exactly does it sound like? I'm aware that some of it is spoken word, but I'm not really sure if all of it is.
Also, what suggestions would one give me?

I've only heard "Flowers" off of Dream Home Heartache, the duet CD he did with Gitane Demone (their mutual 'fuck Valor' album :-D ). It was just him singing with a piano accompaniment, very ballad-like. I've read that his last solo CD, From the Whorse's Mouth, is spoken word material about his heroin addiction, reminiscent of William S. Burroughs.
Well, I've also heard stuff off his Live in Berlin CD but I don't really remember what it sounded like.
Rozz, you asshole, why did you have to kill yourself?

Every King a Bastard's Son and The Whorse's Mouth are both spoken word, though I'd most highly recommend the latter. It really is beautiful stuff.
Accept the Gift of Sin is a really good live recording of him playing a few Christian Death songs as well as his solo work and a few covers. It's one of the best 'live' CD's I've ever listened to.

It's less melodic overall and more ethereal. It is still beautifully melodic to an extent but just not as much going on at once I guess would be a better description.

this song is haunting. And I want to hear more.
Look at the comments it got.
