Greetings....beware, huge wall of text

After stumbling across this site, and doing a little reading on the forums, i figured I'd maybe stop in for a few. I read the stickies, and a few posts, as well as some of the other introductions. I heard the call for more punks here....and well...ask and ye shall receive. Sorry in advance.

so i guess this is where i droll on and on about myself. i never was good at that, even if i am my own biggest fan. and yeah, i read about proper punctuation and grammar, but other than that first introductory paragraph, i doubt i'll capitalize another letter.

music....always a hot button. i'm a huge music person, and respect all types & genres, but i mostly listen to punk (in most of it's variants), ska, and oi,although i do respect true hip-hop...at least the underground stuff....as well as industrial & *some* electronic, jazz, blues, metal, hell, even some outlaw country....so yeah....music is one way i'm always feeding my mind, or at least my ears. i'm not going to rattle off all of the bands i listen to right now.
i'm also obsessed with an (read: singular, one, uh, a) anime...neon genesis evangelion. if you've seen it & can appreciate it, you know why.

i'm not a student, nor have i been for 15 years.

i live here & there....wherever. i'm originally from the chicago area, but i've lived all over the midwest, east coast, southeast, etc. right now, i'm looking at moving to atlanta....

i do play games, mostly mmo's....right now i'm into lord of the rings online, but that's mainly because of the community. basically, it's a way of keeping my 'friends' on my computer screen, so when they get on that nerve, i can always just hit the power button and leave.

i'm a social person, but i think i have social anxiety. or something.

i'm a nihilist, bordering on sociopath.

so, i guess i'll make an attempt at filling out the little questionnaire...

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

some i've touched on. gaming, etc. i am a chef by trade, wanting to switch careers into the software design field. i dabble in playing bass, and still skateboard from time to time. other than that, i spend a lot of time in contemplation.

2. Where are you from?

Rockford, IL is where i was born.

3. Who is your favorite author?

so many.....Poppy Z. Brite, Anne Rice (of course, appropriate), Saul Williams to name a very few

4. What are your favorite films?

sigh.....yet another topic i could spend forever on.....but i won't.....but i'd say natural born killers, the crow, tank girl, and boondock saints come to mind as some all time favorites...

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

that's to imply that i can find someone willing to put up with me long enough to get married...

6. At your funeral?

that's to imply that i'll die.....

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

i'd rather find eternity while i'm alive

8. What kind of casket would you want?

well....persistence....ok then....if i absolutely have to die.....i wouldn't want a casket. i'd rather have my remains scattered (or dropped) here & there.....

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?

one of the clean variety....mostly wear jeans, a shirt, steel toes, & my leather

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

being able to break my leg and not having to worry about bills

11. What's your favorite band?

way too many to list. good thing i already have it saved.... according to my playlist, i listen to... 4 Skins, 88 Fingers Louie, Abrasive Wheels, Agent Orange, Atmosphere, A Perfect Circle, Acid Bath, Agents of Oblivion, Alabama Thunderpussy, Angelic Upstarts, Angry Aryans, Anti-Heroes, Aus-Rotten, Avail, Bad Religion, Blanks 77, Blatz, Blood For Blood, Bouncing Souls, Broken Bones, Cee-Lo Green and his Perfect Imperfections, Chaos UK, Circle Jerks, Cocksparrer, Concrete Blonde, Condemned 84, Conflict, Crucifix, D.I., Dayglo Abortions, Danzig, Dead Kennedys, Dead Milkmen, Defiance, Deftones, Discharge, Drive By Truckers, Dropkick Murphys, Endless Struggle, Evergreen Terrace, Fear, Filth, Flogging Molly, From Autumn To Ashes, GBH, Gnarles Barkley, Grimple, H2O, Hank Williams III, Hudson Falcons, Immortal Technique, Lagwagon, Lars & The Bastards, Leonard Cohen, Lower Class Brats, Main Street Saints, Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, Mike Ness, Millencolin, Murder City Devils, Naked Raygun, New Model Army, Niblick Henbane, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, NIN, NOFX, Nothingface, One Way System, Oxymoron, Pennywise, Puscifer, Rancid, Retching Red, Rise Against, River City Rebels, Skankin' Pickle, Samiam, Screeching Weasel, Sham 69, Sloppy Seconds, Skoidats, SNFU, Still Little Fingers, Subhumans, System Of A Down, Terminus City, The Adicts, The Adolescents, The Adverts, The Boils, The Business, The Clash, The Cure, The Exploited, The Pogues, The Gits, The Last Resort, The Macc Lads, The Meatmen, The Misfits, The Partisans, The Pist, The Plasmatics, The Specials, The Templars, The Varukers, The Vandals, Total Chaos, Toxic Reasons, Toy Dolls, UK Subs, Under Oath, Verbal Abuse, Vice Squad, Wasted Youth, Zoinks

that's just a small part of my list....there's more being added often

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

i graduated high school in '93. i'm going back to school next year (i hope).

13. Why did you join?

well, after stumbling into here, i read some posts on the forums, and thought i might actually get along fine here. i've always been one for the darker aspects of life....

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?

guy

ok....wow.....so there's a novel....i know, i know.....too long, didn't read.

I like you already! Part of me wants to warn you away from Atlanta, because it's...well, because it's Atlanta. And another part wants to evilly encourage you to move here, on the hope that the addition of more interesting people will suddenly tip some sort of scale and get rid of all the Emory kids.

Which Poppy Brite books do you like? The ones full of naked vampires or the ones full of chefs?

Well if you move to Atlanta I'll be moving down to Georga from here in Wisconsin for my army basic and specialized training. I'll be heading down to visit Atlanta often due to the fact that my aunt is a LTC and lives there.

Pretty wide selection of music taste there. Not nearly enough people list Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds or New Model Army, so it's nice to see them listed!

thanks for the warm welcome.

Atlanta...the love of my life. i lived there briefly earlier this year, i guess long enough to get my feet wet there. i'm leaning on moving back, and if i do, i'll be posting up in the little five points area.

as to what i like best about natural born killers, other than that quentin terantino (sp?) wrote it....i've always liked woody harrelson. that, and the way they portrayed the media fanaticism towards the whole situation, it kinda rings true. the way they sensationalize and glamorize stuff like that. news as ratings....

poppy z. brite...one of the greatest erotic/abyss horror writers of our time, but i'd have to say that my favorite one was 'Liqour'. it was a book i could relate to, after cooking for 12 years, and being in new orleans quite a few times pre-katrina.....it was a bit familiar i suppose.

and yeah, nick cave is a current obsession of mine. i guess my musical tastes are sorta mellowing out these days....but yet getting a bit darker. i love the murder ballads though. they make me feel all squishy.

anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome. i look forward to getting to know ya's here.

Aww, Little 5! Now we're definitely friends. I practically live there, and survive primarily on Vortex salads and Aurora coffee.

excellent!! i'm always up for having someone worthwhile to talk to. if anybody near the L5P area knows of any places hiring, lemme know. i'm sort of a jack of all trades, master of none, but i have been cooking for about 12 years, everything from mom & pop pizza shops to 5 star fine dining.

you'll be able to find me hanging out at L5P pizza shop, holy mother, and the like. i'm happy i was there for a while this year, so i could have an opportunity to meet people in the area and have a base of familiarity....so i'm not walking blindly through the city.

Oh...........my...........god! Another true punk like myself! I love punk, I usually stick to UK82, Anarchist punk, American Hardcore and Crust punk. Is your leather studded and painted? I got a jean jacket studded and patched with Dead Kennedys, Conflict, Crass, Casualties, Discharge, DOA, Virus, Ramones and GBH. Every band you listen I have listened to and I love mostly all of them. Truly sir, we need to talk more about music. I tip my mohwak to you sir! Welcome!

yeah, it's spiked/studded/painted/patched up. i got it....well....here's part of the story....

years ago some douchebag had the jacket originally. he beat the snot out of his girlfriend, and she came to us, all bloody and bruised. so, we did what any good man would. we rallied up the troops, strapped on the steelies, found him, and kicked the shit out of him. in the fight, we had somehow managed to pull the jacket off of him, so i snatched it up. edit: all of the studs/spikes/paint/patches were put there by me after the...er...'incident'. it was just a plain black motorcycle jacket. i got about 2 years or so work into it, and there's more being added to it all the time....it's a testament to my travels & experiences i guess....that and it also works as a great pillow or blanket if the need arises.

but aye sir, a true punk, in all senses of the word. i put up my myspace link, and there's a few pics of my 'hawk in its training days. i cut off a couple months ago though, but i left a devil lock that's down to my chin.

as far as music, that's just a copy/paste of my list on my myspace page. i've since added a shit ton more bands onto my winamp list, so that's merely a taste. i get into a lot of street punk, oi, drunk punk, anarcho-punk, stuff like that, but i'm not afraid to listen to some crust, spazz, or even bubblegum snot punk. however, i don't limit myself to just punk. i listen to a wide range of music, really depending on my mood & setting.

all that being said, i'm always up for music talk. if this whole move to atlanta works out, i'll be going to a LOT of shows there, and i'll be sure to file a report here

Sweet! I'm forming a band now, I live in Minnesota so its hard to find other people with the same music tastes. I play guitar and write the music. Our name is Decaying system. I got into punk about two years ago, so I hope you can teach me a few things, I know a lot, but I'm still learning. I'm trying to find replacements for my worn out combat boots now, can you recommend something cheap yet somewhat durable? I was thinking No Futures.

awesome!!! did you know about the new 4 disc re-release, with all new animation, scenes, characters, music, etc.? only disc 1 is available in japan right now, they're spacing them out some. then there's a live action movie supposedly releasing sometime next year or '09. peter jackson's company WETA is doing the special effects. either elijah wood or the dude from harry potter is going to be shinji ikari.

in a couple weeks in sandestin, FL (about 35 or so miles from where i live) spike spencer (the voice of shinji ikari) is appearing at an anime convention. unfortunately, and only unfortunately for this event, i'm moving to atlanta. most likely tomorrow. /
