Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Sunn O)))
I've been complimenting my fast as hell Japanese HC with ultra slow records by not only Sunn O))), but Earth as well. So what do you guys think of them? I really like how heavy it is, it crushes your mind!

I fint sun 0))) quite boring to be honest >< Maybe it's just because I'm not really into that "scene". I just find listening to one of their 20 minute long songs a tedious task indeed. I do like whole pagan thing they've got going on though ^_^

Drone Doom is an amazing genre.

I respect what Sunn O do, but I haven't been able to get into them yet.
Although thats partially because I don't want to buy a CD and I keep forgetting to download any.
Saw a life video of them performing with Malefic, which was alright, but I;d prefer to hear a studio recording....possibly the one with Maleifc on it....*continues search*

I don't really like their music to listen too, but it's nice to just listen to when I'm studying.

Stephen O'Malley is a very busy man. He's participated in many other bands, including Khanate, Burning Witch, Thor's Hammer, Lotus Eaters, and many others. if you really want to see the list, look at wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_O%27Malley
I love Drone music, but I think most people don't like it because they're expecting it to sound like... well.. conventional music. It can be irritating if you go into it with any expectations, whatsoever. It's great to meditate to though, and it can actually be very relaxing, with incense and tea.. .
I actually draw huge influence from Sunn O))) in my own music, although I would never claim to be nearly as good.

That's the link to me if you really want to see. I actually see more influence from White1, and Burning Witch than anything else.

I used to be obsessed with Sunn O))). I still enjoy "Black One", but a lot of their material tends to sound the same. Anyway, ever wondered how awesome it would be if Sunn O))) played riff-driven stoner rock? Look no further than Goatsnake, which features Sunn's guitarist (and guitar tone). I HIGHLY recommend it for any Sunn fan.

Oh yeah, they were made for each other.
Except for the fact that Sunn O))) makes a lot of their music due to Lovecraft...
