Corrrrrset
I have FINALLY found a full backed corset that hopefully won't give me the dreaded back tits effect that I see on a lot of corsetted fat women.
However. When I eventually wear this to the Abney Park gig in London, I will have no help in putting the bugger on. So does anyone have tips on attempting to put on such a garment with little to no help? My mother can help with initial fitting before I go, but once in London I'll have to do it on my lonesome. Help!!??

It'll be easy. I put corsets on all the time by myself.
Try it on first (without clasping the front), and adjust the lace/string in the back accordingly. When you've found a comfortable fit, just buckle up the front (I have a corset with the same clasps, and they're both a blessing and a curse, but easy to put on). If it's too tight, then just loosen the back, and if too loose, pull. It's all really simple. If you need to use a mirror, go for it if you think it will help.

There's a way you can lace it to keep two 'handle' loops in the centre of the back. That way when you put it on it's easier to tighten it again from the front - just grab the loops, pull, and tie.
Here's some somewhat better instructions with pictures:

I can't really tell you how to put it on yourself, but I can give you a few pointers.
First, make sure it's laced up the back, but very very loosely. Open up the busk and put it around you, and put the waist where it should be. Then begin tightening the back. I start at the top, get it to where I want, and hold the top part of the loops with my teeth. Then I start at the bottom and do the same, until it's as tight as I like. Then pull the loops in the back and tie them up.
It's important for your back to be very straight when you do this.

How to lace a corset by yourself
Putting on a Corset
here are a couple methods to try... The first one sort of buzzes through the steps quickly. The second one seems quite a bit more detailed.
Hope this helps.

Ok I'm in it now. Ooof .
I haven't done it up as tight as possible as I know you aren't supposed to. This isn't a £300 garment and so not amazing quality, but it is steel boned and well stitched so I'm happy enough with it for my first one.
I'm quite comfotable in it at the moment ,and I really like how it looks. It's ironed all my bumps out! I very nearly almost look normal apart from my huge wide shoulders, but I can't help that so I'll have to put up with it. I'll take it off, put a shirt on and put it back on again now. Then some experimental Pics for the picture thread.
