Old hardware Do you still use it?
Does everybody have a brand new quad core with 4 GB of ram?
How many people still uses the old computers. Like stuff from the 1900's.
I like to play with the old stuff, old games and old OS's. I like the old Pentium 2's dual Pentium 3's and Xeons. With a few Pentiums thrown in.
But does anybody still rely and use this old suckers?
What kind of computer hardware do you use?

I don't have one of those. I will get one soon though, my brother and I want to have LAN games together but we get a bit of lag at the moment. His computer is probably a quad, it's a desktop and I use a laptop at the moment which is about 2 or less GB RAM. My old desktop, which I do still use occasionally only had MB's of RAM, I'm not sure how many, anyway I got the Sims 2 and needed more so I got this laptop.

I'm a tech geek. I can't even imagine still using a computer from the 1990's. I don't always have the best of the best, because once you move into the higher end stuff, the increase in price quickly starts to overshadow the increase in quality. I'm usually in the middle of the road, but my stuff is never more than a year or 2 old, video cards last a year until the new generation comes out, some stuff lasts a lot longer, like hard drives.

As it happens my laptop died on me in December, so I replaced it. I do have 4 gigs of RAM now, but I think it's dual core.
I don't use it for gaming or anything so I'm really not that bothered about video cards and the like.
My old laptop was about 5 years old, though it was getting a bit slow because the hard drive was pretty much filled, I would have been happy to use it for another 5 years had it not given up. The only big improvement for me is that I now have more space to fill with music and movies.

I have an old early 90's vintage 386 monochrome laptop that I keep on the downstairs desk as a decoy, if anyone breaks in for a "crash and grab" burglary (to beat the cops called by my alarm system) they will grab it and be satisifed not to look further for the good stuff.

Yeah HP is cool like that.
Honestly I used to have some very dated tech, most notably my cellphone which I got back in 2001, but now I'm all nice and updated.

I have an old windows 98 computer up in my room, and we have an old super nintendo system. Also back in my job working for the school district which included broadcasting live school board meetings we used an old Amiga computer for on screen text.

Nah I wish I had a gameboy color.
When I was a little kid my dad had an original gameboy. Unfortunately one day I thought the screen was dirty, so I decided to use Mr. Bubble to help me clean off the screen. The gameboy didn't survive.

I still have my gameboy color I got for Christmass of 1999.
Works perfectly! But my mom was about to throw away some junk this year and in it was my brothers gameboy he didn't care about.
I gladly took it and took the battery cover off of it for my gameboy. I lost it years ago.
Did you know that the metal cleaner Brasso will remove the cratches from gameboy and Ipod screens? It works very nicely!

486? Oh god, that is really old! I like old hardware I can still run windows and do things with. Like Pentium MMX and above.
I usually play with old stuff, but good old stuff. Like a computer that was the cream of the crop in say, 1997. Something like $7,000.
I have this dual Pentium 2 Dell Precision. It was a beast in 1997. Over seven grand with 128 MB of ram.
So, good old hardware. Not a cheap 1997 computer, an expensive monster back then and a classic now.

My friend got this Compaq Server from an office. They were disposing of it.
http://reviews.cnet.com/sc/182764-2-200-0.gif
It was made in 2000 I think. It is a dual Pentoum III 600 with room for 4 GB of ram. It had advanced RAID and a whole cooling system. It can hold 10 SCSI 80 pin drives. Dual power supplys. I don't know how to run it. It is a complicated beast. and probably cost $14,000. No fellow owned one of these things at home. It was in an office with a support crew that worked on it. I have to read how to set it up. There are litterly dozens of drivers for it. I mean this thing was high tech and very exotic! It weighs a TON!
Funny thing is, for a expensive monster like this, there is no USB or Sound! I had to add hose in with cards. And there is no AGP!

My laptop only has 1GB RAM and dual core. Even with Vista it's ok running iTunes, Word and Firefox at once so I'm fine with it.
I have a desktop as well that's several years older. And my phone is at least four or five years old and working fine.
^ and that actually sounds pretty interesting, good luck getting it working.
