Hiway 365 S
Folks, something strange is going on on hiway 365 S between Little Rock and Woodson, Arkansas. In the old days, before the interstate, if one lived in South east Arkansas and wanted to go to Little Rock( In central Arkansas) then 365 was the only way to do.
It has alway been a strange road, sparesly populated, with swamplike bogs on the side and even a few abandoned cemataries. Rumors of red, latern like lights seen trhough trees as well as a young girl who runs out in front of you car have been reported for decades. Of course you cannot avoid the girl, you hit her with an audible thump, she goes tumbling, and you stop the car and try to find her and, you guessed it, she is no where to be seen.
Other versions include a hitchhhiker who disappears. Urban legends, right? Swamo gas could account for the light. Except for the fact that in many cases we have first hand witnesses, instead of the "friend of a friend" which is what you get with most urban legends. I have located an actual eye witness, who had an experience way back in 1948, who is extremly credible, known to me personally, and trustworthy as I go to lodge with him (Im a Freemason)
They (it was 2 of them, so I have a double witness) were working for the Arkansas Department of Correction at the time (The prison) pulling a cotton trailor from Little Rock heading back towards Pine Bluff and Varner, Arkansas, which is where the prison is located. They saw a young couple, as in boy and girl, on a bridge waving them down. They estimated them to be in the late teens or early twenties. They thought it strange because they had just come from Little Rock and had not seen any evidence or a car wreck or a stalled vehicle anywhere on the side of the road. The bridge was small, just outside of the small town of Woodson. As the trailor came closer they had to move to allow it room to pass. The two prison workers pulled to the side of the road to offer assitance and to their amazement they couldnt find the couple anywhere. Being law enforcement officals they were armed with pistols and sercah light (After all part of their job was catching convicts) They went into the woods, searched the swampy bog, looked under the bridge. No sign was found of the couple. They lookedfor 30 to 45 minutes.
