Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

Looking for more Post-punk(ish) music like Joy Division

So yeah.

I'm currently on the search for more gritty/gloomy post-punk like Joy Division.
I got hold of the Bauhaus disco in 256kb, currently listening to it, and I find it very enjoyable (Bauhaus - Mask, that song is just brilliant), so what other bands am I missing here? I know there's a heap so just throw names at me.

Section 25, In Camera, The Sound and Comsat Angels are all older bands that are worth checking out.

I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness is a more recent band along the lines of Interpol or Editors who are also really good.

Theatre of Hate and Death Cult are good picks.

Interpol

A newer band, but they do have a bit of a Joy Division sound.

I love Xmal. Someone posted their video for 'Matador' on Youtube, which made me really happy.

If you're interested in neopostpunk, there's the Editors, Interpol, She Wants Revenge, and a few others I can't think of.

Just got back from seeing Interpol. I'm not a big post-punk fan. I don't mind She Wants Revenge. They have some catchy stuff.

God, I wish I could say 'The Libertines' for post-punk revival, but I'm not sure if any of you would like them. My friend Pete Doherty (before he was famous) had drug problems but really worked hard to form them...seeing him kicked out wasn't fair...

Anyway, I'm off....

Echo and the Bunnymen
the Chameleons UK
The Bolshoi
Classix Nouveaux

All GREAT Joy Division-esque post-punk bands.
