Question Looking for some advice...

Before I start, I am not looking to crash your community/clubs/etc... I am not a wannabe persay, rather I am a retro rock'n'roll guy whose wife is a big fan of goth/industrial culture. So please save your flames for someone else.

For years she has wanted me to go out to one of the goth clubs she loves done up... (I usually just go in black pants and a black t-shirt so as not to stand out like a sore thumb) so the opportunity has arrived for me to dress up for her so to speak. I just need a little help, as I am doing this as a surprise for her so I want to get it right.

What I want to know, is if I have a shiny finished vinyl trenchcoat, what kind of pants should I *not* wear with it? I am trying to figure out of matte black vegi leather jeans are a goth fashion fauz pas when coupled with the shiny jacket. Should I just go shiny pants too, or go with fabric pants instead. She really appreciated the form fitted look so I am staying away from anything baggy...

So far what I have is my plain old black combat boots, Lip Service priest vinyl trenchcoat, and a long sleeve mesh shirt. Anyone give me some tips so I can make her happy?

Anyone?

Seriously, if I knew any goth types I would just ask them. Can someone help me out here?

Well, first and foremost, you could have asked for help in another thread instead of creating a new one.
Now, to the issue itself, I cannot say much about your problem.
You already know to stay away from baggy pants, so that's a point for you.
But I don't like trenchcoats. I rather prefer leather jackets, or if I could finally buy it, a cassock.
If you're going to wear a shiny trenchcoat - in which case I'd reccomend you to look for one that's not shiny - try to avoid shiny things as much as you can. So yes; don't wear shiny pants.

I'd go with cloth pants, if there's any chance of the veggi leather ones going "squeak" when you move, especially against the shiny trenchcoat.

Have you got any silver somethings to wear, like a neck chain or studded belt? Accessories finish the look.

Go with eyeliner, definitely. And you can probably just search "goth" on google and get some good ideas. Just for you, though, I'll give you a couple of links to guys I find attractive:

If you dress like Gackt, though, you'll probably be overdressed.
