Intro

Hello all - I'm posting here before contributing to other parts of the board. I just signed up and started lurking here yesterday.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job) For work, I am in HR, primarily benefits administration.

2. Where are you from? Southern CA, born and raised. The husband and I are moving up to the Portland, OR area, as soon as we can sell the damned house.

3. Who is your favorite author? I have a few, including Stephen King and Poppy Brite. In terms of more classic literature, I enjoy Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle.

4. What are your favorite films? House of 1,000 Corpses, The Ring, Donnie Darko, Boondock Saints

5. What music do you want played at your wedding? Well, we had an Irish band play at ours (The Fenians). They played "In My Life" for our first dance, and we made them play "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda", even though the subject matter is pretty bleak.

6. At your funeral? I'm not sure. In the past, when I have gone to funerals, I've not wanted to hear anything familiar, or else I would forever be reminded of that day when I heard that song again. So, for now, probably just background kind of stuff that isn't discernible.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? Peacefully, in my sleep.

8. What kind of casket would you want? I'm leaning towards cremation, so a nice urn.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? Anything including black tights and a short plaid skirt.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? The freedom from responsibility.

11. What's your favorite band? REM, Depeche Mode, Morrissey/The Smiths, The Cure (yeah, I'm a bit old school). More recent discoveries are The Birthday Massacre and Placebo, even though both have been around for a while.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? I have a bachelor's degree, and majored in Religious Studies, minor in Comparative Lit.

13. Why did you join? I snooped around, and it looked interesting in here I used to check the place out years ago before Gothic Miss Manners got her own site.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? Female

Hello JeanGenie. Have you read "The White Company" by Doyle? Everyone who does goes out and buys a bow and some arrows, I swear.

Nope, haven't read it - I'll have to check it out. I already have a bow and arrows, so I've got that covered - used to do archery stuff years ago

Welcome!

I love your taste in music and literature, by the way.
How's it going?

Miss Manners eh? Welcome Snarkling!
And I assume RSM stands for Rancho Santa Margarita? I drive through there on the way to sister's or my mother's place on the weekends. Nice place, but Portland Oregon is lot less crowded, a little more sane, whilst still large enough to have a Goth scene.

Again, welcome!

I like the Bowie username, I was actually listening to Jean Genie in the car yesterday. ^_~

The Birthday Massacre are pretty great, from what I've heard of them. You should check out Rasputina too, they're one of my favorite bands.
