"The End" by the Doors comes to mind. It' about war, i'm sure you know. But...well, I would at least hope most songs have some sort of meaning. But, what are the instructions? Do you need to find lyrics on a specific subject?

Well, "God Save the Queen" by the Sex Pistols talks about the facist English Government.

"American Pie." - an overrated song, but it's like a goldmine for this sort of thing. (and I kinda like it)

What on earth could Metabolik listen to if that music doesn't have some sort of meaning?

Anyway, if you want to make it easy for yourself, choose "Marilyn. My Bitterness" by The Crüxshadows. It's smack in anyones face what that song is about.

All songs have meaning. It's just that for some there is heavy symbolism where the meaning becomes unclear or harder to understand, but I assure you every song has a meaning.

...

Unless if you need a certain type of meaning that the song must have...

How about Illusion by VNV Nation, or maybe god thinks by Voltaire.

If you can, download the song "Komm, Susser Tod (Come Sweet Death" by Arianne from the End of Evangelion OST. The meaning might not be clear at first because it's a poppy tune, but it's blatant when you figure it out: the singer, behind the backdrop of a happy uptempo sound, is actually giving her motivations for suicide.

"Dear God" by XTC is pretty blatant so no need to figure it out there.

Yep though I don't know if that is or ever will be the official video consdering that it would require negotiations between the animator and VNV Nation which I don't think have happened. I wish it were the offical one, it truely is beautiful. When was the last time if ever VNV Nation released an official music video?

Errr, most songs tend to have song kind of meaning... and even if they don't, you can find your own.

Whoa.

I have dyslexia.

I totally read KMFDM as "R.E.M."

My thirteen year old brother did a de-construction of that song for a school project once at my prompting.

For those who don't know, it's a rather lenghty history of rock 'n roll.

Ever thought of trying to breakdown the meaning of the lyrics to Lucretia, My Reflection by Sisters of Mercy?

If you STILL haven't found a suitable song, try anything by
-Ashbury Heights
-Siouxie
-Uninvited Guest
-Solemn Novena (there's even a song about vampires!)
-Tristesse de la Lune

Well everything CRASS wrote was VERY political. They founded the anarchist punk genre. I love them so much!

Off subject, but are you an anarchist as well? And if so, what flavor?

Crass wrote a lot of political stuff, but they're a very acquired taste if they're something you're going to listen to often. KRS-One are just as political and equally palatable (expect race issues, and rap before it turned shit- still not my kind of music, but I can appreciate the sentiments)

I doubt we'll ever round the selection of possibilities to less than a dozen, or even less than 100 for that matter. Perhaps if you were more specific on what you were looking for you wouldn't get a google level of search results.

LOL, I first read that as anarchy without adjectives (as coined by Fernando del Mármol).

Yes, I am an anarchist. The labels all help point out views, but I'm too diverse to fit an adjective to my anarchist views. I often use the term Anarcho-Capitalist or Agorist in some settings, while using the less volatile terms of Individualist or Mutualist in settings where using the A-word might get me tied to a stake and burnt alive.

I am very pro-free market (though I detest to 'crony capitalism' of the world today). I believe in a system or free and open exchange, where your labour is your own, and you exchange property only on your own merit and terms, not because a collusion of corporations, the State and the media coerce you into their decisions for you. I am very pro-revolutionary, though this has gotten me in a bit of trouble with the powers that be. I give it less than a decade before they all destroy themselves and my plan is to wait it out and help rebuild a truly free society after the ash stops falling.

Would you like to move this to politics? We could have our own little thread of Anarky! xD

Yes, I would like that thread. When you rebuild that free society, I'll be coming to join it.
