Who Started It?

Going ALL THE WAY BACK, who was the very first band to start wearing make-up, even though they were dudes and it wasn't really theatrical or anything? Does anybody know? It had to be all the way back before Kommunity FK, or even Bauhaus, right? '75 or earlier.

It had to be the likes of Alice Cooper and New York Dolls...I thought it was common knowledge.

Probably when prehistoric humans discovered how to make instruments and used something like red ochre body paint to add effect to performances. So.. maybe 35,000 years ago?

David Bowie comes to mind. He may not have been the first, but he certainly made it more popular for males to wear make-up.

I kind of think of Victorian Gothic horror books, and architecture. Obviously not bands but I guess set the tone, so to speak.

My friend who has been a goth like forever reckons Bach is very goth, I am inclined to agree. How he dressed tho I am not sure.
