We shouldn't be friends, Canada did help burn down the White House in 1814. And don't think I'll ever forgive you guys for the sacking of York. WTF MAN.

Totally, its like that only far more, uh, "white person trying to imitate their idea of a Japanese school girl"-ish. Although they were also repeatedly spewing the few Japanese words and phrases they knew, and mispronouncing everything, so that may cloud my judgement on which is worse.

Unfortunately, I know someone like that. She also does the "cute" hand gestures along with it.

Kill her, now!(I kid! ) I watch anime, but I don't understand the 'otaku' or 'weeaboo' mindset. Just because I like a few things from a certain country doesn't mean I'm gonna appropriate everything in their pop culture.

Nothing can be worse than Man-Faye.
Absolutely. Nothing.
He's worse than Sailor Bubba [who I actually think is rather awesome.]
I had the misfortune to see...this spectacle...at Anime Expo in SoCal a few years ago. He wasn't allowed in the building, for obvious reasons.

This is one of my pet peeves...
They act/look nothing like Japanese school girls, and it's not endearing at all...
I mean I think it's great that kids enjoy anime, and the Japanese culture, but some just go wayyy too far.

May I remind you that we actually succeeded in blowing Japan all to hell when it was all said and done? Or that we've now succeeded in trying to blow ourselves up?
We aren't really that much better.

Bullshit. We're awesome at blowing stuff up.

Hell, I don't understand cosplay ... but I've learned to keep my trap shut because it seems to be much more popular than I can fathom.

And you popping up a first response with that self-defining answer is so predictable ... I can't even think of a suitable insult to cover it.

There's no need for an insult.

I befriended her at the beginning because I heard she liked anime, but then I found out she was into fanservice type anime that was meant for perverted Japanese men and Yaoi.
She also started annoying me incessantly with her Japanese phrases; her whining about how much she wishes she had black hair and black eyes; how she wants to go to Japan and become a manga illustrator; her obsession over ramen, pocky, and sushi; and the fact that she hates all "western" music and only listens to J-Pop or J-rock.
She also started dressing like the picture of that girl I posted above.
I know two other people like that, but they're guys.

I don't know if cosplay is much different than sewing together an outfit for clubbing. I miss the clubbing days sometimes. I have seen some very bad cosplay and some very good.

As I acknowledged, I don't comment much on cosplay because it is so inordinately popular.
But I used to attend a lot of science fiction conventions and I never once had the urge to dress up as a storm trooper, klingon, hobbit or batman either.

Its so awesome seeing other people do it though. I just think of it as showing your fan dedication, and also an excuse to dress up. Halloween just isn't enough!

My sentiments exactly...to me it's a hobby, I get to plan this stuff gradually. It keeps me busy.
