My school is quite relaxed about the whole goth look.I can wear make-up & nail polish & most teachers won't really mind. They are abit stricter on piercings.Occasionally I have to take out my nose stud when requested or when I go to assembley (it is a hassle though...it caused a big nosebleed once. However I got to miss information tech.) They aren't really that bothered with my boots or chokers/rings either.I did get told off for replacing my school jumper with a long black cardigan but nobody noticed for a while because the jumper was black too.

My school isn't strict in the least. I have 3 facial piercings, and noone says shit about it. I mean I'm sure they aren't exactly pleased with the way I present their school to visitors, but that's not anything I'm worried about. I wear make up and stuff.. clothes they don't care about. I mean the can't tell me to stop wearing certain clothes/colors and looking the way I want... If you're going to do that, talk to the sluts who come partially nude. Certainly not dressed for a learning environment.
And I found this kind of interesting, thought I'd go ahead and share.
I have 1st lunch period (there are 3) and none of my really close friends have it with me, so usually i just finish up homework and shit during lunch. Well one of my not so close friends starts a conversation with "Oh, you know that goth girl Melanie?" I was personally friends with this girl long enough to find that she.. well, she wasn't what I expected. I thought she was authentic, and that she would be someone I would have something in common with. Well, turns out she's just a loser wearing a good charlotte hoodie.
Anyhow, I speak to Christian on the issue. I tell him not to let Melanie fool him, and that she was certainly not 'goth'. Then someone else jumps into the conversation claiming that noone in our school is goth because "goths don't even come out in the sunlight". I didn't even get the chance to reprimand him, for I couldnt help but laugh.

See, these are the kind of imbeciles who DON'T deserve a withering remark, 'cause they're stupid enough to be harmelss and they also provide infinite comedy moments such as this. (Not to be confused with your common garden-variety imbecile, who absolutely deserves wrecking.)

Oh man, reading some what what you guys 'n' gals write, I think your all very lucky.
During my schools days we had to wear tweed and blaming blazers. Freshly pressed starch white shirts, charcoal grey trousers, not black and grand-dad shoes, not boots; shoes! Anything remotely outside the regulation was frown upon, detention and shit was the punishment they give out for non-comfirmers.
Hmm... I think I spent just about everyday in detention or being told or given lines about the school's rules. Looking back, I never one actually took homework home...

My school claims theres a dress code but most of the teachers wont say anything. Except they wont alow you yo wear a long gothic skirt if your a guy,and you can forget wearing anything saying your gay. A friend wore a shirt that said I like girls that like girls and they yelled at her. I can kinda understand that though.

During my History class the other day, we had a long discussion about freedom of expression in relation to dress codes. I was the example, which was vaguely amusing. I believe my teacher's exact words were, "See, Caelyn is one of the most interesting people I've met. She just chooses to wear black."
I don't see how wearing black detracts from my interesting...ness.
But anyway. Most of the dress code violations at my school come from people wearing too little clothing, as opposed to too much black/spikes/make-up.
Most of my issues come from the student body. I actually got sent to my counselor's office at the beginning of last year because the girls in my gym class were giving me so much crap about the way I dress. The counselor just asked if I wanted to switch classes. I said no, because it wouldn't have been any better.
There are stupid people everywhere. Sometimes, if you ignore them, they leave you alone.

And other times, if you run them over with a lawn mower, they go away too!

What I do is ignore people who think I'm weird. It makes them feel stupid and I get the satisfaction of not wasting my breath. People shouldn't judge other people on the way you dress, its just too low, and most people judge people before they know you. I've learned that the hard way and that's not a good way.

Yeah, eating pickles and chocolate milk shake is quite nasty, I've tried it before. I have learned from my mistakes, and have become a better person because of it.

I bet there would be a market for pickle-flavored milkshakes. Mostly among pregnant women, of course.

Goths in highschool..... I do not give a shit, I have passed that point in my life. All I can say is be yourself. However be careful. That is one reason I hate things a s such. But hey to whoever this appeals to. Just do thebare minimum and even better than that. Don't let pricks push you down. God I need sleep.

Almost everyone in my school hates "goth" without knowing what it is. Most of the people who don't hate the subculture believe they are goth. How they delude themselves in this way I am not sure. One of them listens to Greenday, 'cause they're sooooo goffikk. Another believes she can become a vampire through a sceance(not sure about spelling). They are idiots and give the subculture a bad name. I'm not exactly uber-goth meself, but I "out-goth" them on several counts. Open-mindedness(is that a a word?) ,IQ (they be trolls ) Ahh well I'm ranting. Sorry....What I was trying to say is that the school doesn't need to discourage "goth". The pupils manage it very well...

I can't wait to get back to the U.S. to rejoin my friends and the rest of the family & people are just open-minded unlike here. I've been in this shithole for quite some time and I've basically had enough.Another year to go...

My high school is just your basic average public high school. The principal did shoot down the GSA's idea of a Transvestite day, but apparently he was worried about it causing a distraction. We are not allowed to wear spiked wristbands, but the law is not enforced. As a matter of fact, the only rules that are really enforced concerning the dress code are the hat restrictions and clothing length regulations.
Most of the "alternative" kids only have trouble with a few jocks who are stuck in the fifties greasers-socs mentality, and some of the baby bats who are seriously anti-prep give us some trouble and annoy the heck out of us. Most of the teachers and other students are indifferent. As long as your t&a are covered, no one cares.

My school seems to have a problem with me. I am the only semi-gothic person there in the entire hell hole, and it sucks. They have like, a whole list of clothes that I can not wear! It's really annoying!
