I've been dating a gent long distance for almost 2 years, and I can't be with him for a whole year more, and he's waited for me that whole time. Well, he hasn't had sex anyways. He's dumped me, dated another gal for a few days just to get some physical attention, no sexual acts though, and then got back with me. I'm not saying everyone should do it, in fact I've told him I wouldn't be mad if he fooled around simply because 1) I feel bad for making him wait and 2) I don't like listening to him complain sometimes. hehe. Anyways, asking someone to wait more than a handful of months is a mean thing to do in my opinion. If you're going to be there in 3 years, maybe you should just wait until then to get together rather than trying to make it work now. Believe me, it can be such a pain in the ass.

What I am saying is that, when you are in a relationship where you get no physical interaction, you don't even get to see the person, and talking is a lot less than you would like, both people involved are most likely going to want something more than what they've got. I personally think it is mean to ask someone in such a situation to wait.
