I don't see what's wrong with asking people to introduce themselves =\
I don't scream at them, if I see a n00b I don't scream at them I just ask them nicely >_> It's like when you meet someone new and they tell you their name and shake your hand before they start blabbing at you. It's just common sense...

Intorductions do serve a purpose. First of all, it is good manners to introduce yourself. Second of all, it gives some idea to the posters of your personality and tastes. And third, it gives you more post count ^_^

Intro threads are indeed pointless for people that only came here for a question or something.
But for people that feel like they're going to stay, they should introduce themselves first; in the very lest, because it's good for me.
I can never remember all the guys around. I see someone with about a hundred posts and I'm still like "wtf is this guy?". Intros are a nice reference point for me to remember them.

I think all of Gnet is fun, even the pointless bits.... The Word Association Game, anyone? If I read a particularly interesting post, I like that I can look up the person's intro to learn a bit more about them. Lots of things on here are a bit pointless, yet they're still a way for us to interact with each other, establish ourselves into the community. I wish I had the time to read every little thing posted around here....
