Phantom Vision is a band from Portugal who is heavily influenced by the post punk and 80s goth music eras. Though for many of you, you might find this to be refreshing that there's bands out there like this that stay true to the style and formula, I can't help but feel they're uninspired.
If you're with me on this, you will notice their sound is almost TOO correct and not quite original. Though this would please a small hand full of audiences, I can't help but feel that the 21st century has come a long way in tastes and ideas.
These guys, though very good at what they do, sound way too much like the aforementioned formula and nothing like anything new and exciting. The singer sounds like he sat down and listened to nothing but Fields of the Nephalem and Peter Murphey til that was all he could sound like.
For being correct and true to the style, you have to give them credit, especially for a 3rd wave goth band. They are awesome in that respect. Other than that, they sound uninspired. The lyrics are somewhat lacking and bring up ideas and thoughts that we've been through many many times before.
Still, it's a good listen to for the sake of hearing something old school from the new school.
