This is the only way to get your attention, as private messaging, emailing, and of course posting do not work.

And it is true. There haven't been any newbies lately. I thought it was because of holidays or something, but there is an obvious problem with registrations by this time.

A friend of mine on this forum(#1158374) changed her email address and didn't get a confirmation email. And now she can't login. Which she finds rather annoying. Just FYI

I have not received any emails from subscribed threads (cough) like I used to. In fact, no email at all from Gnet.

Yeah, there has been a problem with the emails. Sorry about that. We have been working on it and hopefully it will be cleared up shortly. Once it gets resolved, we may go ahead and resend all the pending registration confirmation links.

I don't want to be mean to the guys waiting for their activation code, but actually if you do take your time, it might be better.
I can just imagine all those people getting the codes at the same time. There'd be scores of posts everywhere saying "Hy im newb lolxorz GOTH OUT!!11eleven!" and the potential cool ones might say "This is it? Leet speaking Linkin' Park lovers?"
Wow, it creeps me out.

Oh, come on Jill, I think the newbs are fun.

When I signed up here, it kept telling me to re-enter that code thing with all the mixed up letters and numbers, even though I had re enterd it about 8 times. I had to get my friend in New York to do it for me.

I'm not so sure that this has anything to do with the current problem. But it might.

Actually, it's not a bad idea. It could potentially keep bots out, too. A 48-hour waiting period, or somesuch.

Aye.

Possibly, though, with the referral system, there could be a confirmation [sent to the referrer], which would circumvent the waiting period, because we know they won't be a noob?

I know that sentence had awful grammar. Sorry about that.

You don't have an intro thread, and judging by this remark I wonder if you've been here before?
Regardless of the situation, you NEED to make an intro.
Even if you have been here since June, you have only 4 posts, and no intro.
Odd.

I put plenty of time and effort into my first intro. I just like to come back here and see how the forum is developing every couple months.

Lets see. I was here during the Gnet life of Sanctus, horrorgirl, wolfmoon, EPS... others I can't quite recall, and I witnessed all of them leaving. Oh, and you once called me a non-conformist.

Now that's some bullshit. Not even giving some actual people a chance to get a clue - just delete the new ones who may appear like leet trash before you delve?

I can see skimming for bot shite, but give the kids a chance like you were given, regardless of how you initially came on.

I never said "delete them"
I only said not to give everyone their activation codes at the same time or the site might flood.
I know you're focused into accusing me of a chauvinistic goth pig, but that doesn't make it true.

And Cheddar Biscuit, you just gave me a project.

Re-read your post for other interpretations, how it might *also* be read. You admit readily that you are an elitist, but shy away when actually called out on it, take the less offensive intepretation. That happens a lot around here... I am not focused on anything with you. I don't know you. All I have to go on are your words here. There is nothing for me to alter or make into a reality that is not already there on your own words.

But fuck all that- from reading this thread completely, it would seem silly to ask anything of anyone who might be in charge, no? If they believe some group or the other is causing the random bot invasion, then why do they not screen to begin with?

Dont' take me wrong, open enlistment forums are... ok. But the better forums do tend to have a screening process and a "board" for member determination.

I do openly admit I'm an elitist. Yet, if you knew me half as much as any other in the forums, you would know the areas and the extent of my elitism. I have judged new guys; I have never denied them.
