I rarely wear lipstick, as I like the natural color of my lips. For special occasions I might wear a dark red. I'll do black for shits and giggles. I just find it entertaining because I'm blonde and quite pale.

Like most of you said, it's a completely situational thing. Sometimes at the club, where the lighting is low, I look great with black lipstick, other times, I look completely ridiculous, because my skin has reddish brown tones and it just crashes. I much prefer a dark dark purple lipstick amusingly and aptly named "decadence."
Also, a problem with black lipstick is that it's often made for costumes, and cheaply, so it looks bad no matter what.

That's why eyeliner is the best for black lipstick.

I got a really good one by "Fantasy makers" in Walmart around halloween time. I like it a lot better than the kind i got from Hot Topic, which smudged very easily and tasted foul. Look out for stuff around halloween time.

(Appologies for the double post, it wouldn't let me edit)
As for me, im only 16 and live within a household govered by a parental unit, so I only have it on occasionally when im in my room screwing around with my makeup. I tried leaving the house with it on, and for reasons beyond my understanding, they got extreamly upset. It's just makeup, but they thought that by wearing black lipstick i was telling the world i was a whore or something. Iv seen much worse that scream "whore", like heavy blue eyeshadow or dark lipliner that doesn't even come close to the kind of lipstick they are wearing. I think the black lipstick looks good on me, and i love the teeth whitening benefits!

Doesn't always look fabulous, in my opinion - but when it does, I find it irresistible. Of course darkened eyes and a pale complexion work best in conjunction, but I think it could look great with darker skin too... as long as said skin is in good condition, of course. It depends a lot on the shape of the person's features, I think. Black lipstick suits thinner, wider mouths than thick puffy ones, in my mind.
Red lipstick doesn't appeal to me, actually. I'd rather see someone in black or another color.
As for wearing it myself... I don't think it's right for me. It's a bit ostentatious, and I don't have the right complexion or hair to complement it. It'd clash. Plus, all I could find anyway is the cheap shit they sell around Halloween, ech.

Black Lipstick looks good depending on how you wear it and your complexion. It usually looks nice only on whiter people(that sounds awkward). But black lipstick looks very bad on tanned or olive faces. Purple is a nice alternative in my opionion.

Purple is better. Black can look good only on certain people. Not depending on thier complexion either. I've seen pale people look terrible in black lipstick. I prefer purple or dark red.

For those of you who have seen pictures of me do you think the black lipstick would look good on me?
It wouldn’t be something I would do everyday but occasionally when I dress up I think it might be something I want to do.

I think black lipstick doesn't really enhance everybody and most look better without it. However, some girl look very beutiful with it on in my oppinion. But i think they would look beutiful anyway.

Good goth. *Sigh* another fake account.
Oh please post an intro. :/
The opinion of black lipstick I already stated. I personally like it; though it depends on what aspect in our scene they're shooting for. And the facial features can hold back some abilities in wearing it.
Hmhh. I also like dark purple.

I only really like different shades of red or purplish-red and if you don't use a lipliner it could look messy.

On second thoughts, black lipstick can look hot. But still, it's rare to see someone pull it off.

Black lipstick is awesome, just not on me. It'll smug and snear and just stain my skin, its horrible. I cant do it.
I really want a like bright green or blueberry blue lipstick, but i havnt found one, anywhere. It sucks.

black liquid eyeliner with a purple over looks amazing... other than that black lipstick always looks dingy grey

I love black lipstick, it goes with anything.
If i'm wearing all black eye make-up though, I prefer red. Otherwise it's just too much black.
When i'm wearing purple or red eyeshadow, black is good. It's about getting the right balance.

I've worn black lipstick many times and now I wish I could find the same dark metallic purple a friend let me use once although a funny happened later that was some goth chic came up to me and kissed me. Hell, I didn't even know her, but I guess there must be a thing about guys with purple lipstick that women find irresistable or something.
Come to think of it, I better find that color of lipstick to prove that theory.

I believe that very much, but I'm just wondering if the purple was anything more special than the black one.
