Okay, why is there a 'Rant Corner' thread but not the opposite, like, 'BEST FUCKING DAY OF YOUR LIFE!' thread?
Ahem, anyway.
So this kid comes up to the kiosk today and starts looking at shoes. I get up from my book, say hi to him, and he shakes his head and points to his ear. Holy crap he's deaf! Well, my brain goes into sixth-grade mode and I start signing with him. I help find his size, the color he wants, and then after that we talked for a little bit. I understood him mostly, and even though when his mom came later she didn't buy any shoes, it was the most awesome thing EVER! This silly little hobby I've had since freaking forever has FINALLY PAID OFF! I talked to someone! I used the skill! This was better than FRENCH even, and my French is exponentially better than my signing. OH WELL WHO GIVES! It was AWESOME!
