That's my point. Isn't a uniform, after all, just a style of dress? A regimented style of dress? Look at the word Uni-form. One form. Could it not be extended to encompass one particular style of dress? I know plenty of people that have multiple items of clothing that are almost identical save for the color. Most people have a certain style of dress. Is it unreasonable to look at this as a kind of self imposed uniform? It may not be as rigid as a state or school mandated uniform, but it's still a uniform of sorts. I think that the majority of people are simply averse to the idea of being told what to wear, when, in reality, they are nowhere near as original as they would like to think.

How closed-minded people can be nowadays right?
My school has really done nothing to stop the goth scene ecause there only FOUR goths in the entire school. Me,and my friends Sophia, Marilin, and Mark.

I was going to say that style allows for much more freedom, but realized that, no matter how rigid the uniform, it is still possible to make yourself look different if that's what you want.
So, I guess you're right.
Although, I don't think that people are averse to the idea of being told what to wear; they don't like being forced to wear something. If their idol tells them that wearing, say, black T-shirt, black pants, and combat boots is cool, they're going to wear it, even if they're aware that it's not original at all.

Not directly told, no. More like manipulated to willingly choose a uniform of sorts. And they gladly accept it, even if they rebelled against school uniforms.
Give people an illusion of a choice (even "either you wear this or you don't belong to our group" choice), and if you do that with enough skill, people will willingly accept whatever you want them to accept. Including wearing a sort of uniform after they stated they hate uniforms.

I understand you. I did the same when I was 14, though I succeeded better than you - no one ever found out I wasn't 17 until the day I told it myself, and then no one liked me. Lying isn't the way getting through. But I think you've got enough of preaching already, so I'll stop now...

anyway, school doesn't really rule my 'goth life' in any way. Teachers say nothing, which is nice, but other 'more normal' students (though I'm as normal as they are) start gossiping shit about me so that's why I don't bother to prink myself up to anything special at school and sometimes I even go without makeup. It's not that I couldn't stand staring or gossiping, please yourself if you like to, but I don't think that prinking much for the school is worth it however.

Well I'll be... I was thinking it meant primp and preen and such, but prinking....
Well don't that just beat all!

Sorry, I was typing too fast so the sentence SHOULD have come out like this: Would this parent happen to even happen to know you because if they didnt it would be so closed-minded to have stirred up assumptions like that. Besides that I guess I was a little clumsy not knowing the story wasnt true for not reading the rest of the posts. Sorry.

Yes it does. lol. Back to the whole goths in school thing, All we goths really can do with accesorizing is nails, make-up, and wear dark colored shirts and jewelry though we must remove them during Dance class. We can only do this because our wretched school does not believe in freedom of expression and makes us wear uniforms even though the little things we wear makes the teachers ask us " Are you okay? What is this onsomble." And they believe we need therapy. THE NERVE.

Why does this person seemingly remind me of Mr. T just now? Hell, Mr. T would have been more original. Come on man, I haven't checked the Intro threads but do it right. And yes, profanity is very fashionable but it is even more fashionable to hurl insults without it. Maybe something anacrhonistic. Here, I'll do it for you.
May ten thousand horse tarts fall upon the government and the acerebral fopdoodles who steer its courses...
Or, as B.A. Barrakas might say
"I pity da fool who hugs the government"
I know, corny, but at least there was an effort there...

My school doesn't really care, but my style of dress is a combo of Nu Metal, Punk, and Goth. All those style's of dress are close so everything kind of runs together nicely. The only problem my school has is they don't like the chains on Tripp pants, which is understandable becuase they often get stuck in the desks.
They don't have any make up restrictions or anything of that sort. The rules they do have, are backed up with evidence so I really can't complain.

My high school banned wallet chains and so forth because people were using them for swinging weapons and garrottes. They did not ban necklaces for some time after that however, which baffled me. Did they want violence acted upon necklace wearers? Or were they just stupid? I always assumed the latter.
