I can understand if you mean your proud of a certain culture that you are part of because that does require certain effort on the part of the individual person. Culture =/= race
I agree. I mean, I don't find it offensive to be proud of your race, but it's not like you had a hand in it. You're better off being proud of something you actually DID.

Kind of off the beaten path on Shikoku, in Tokushima. I only just recently moved here from the US.

I suspect the Japanese have all the best fashions. Every time I've been enamoured with a really exciting item of clothing enough to bother going up to a person and asking where they got it, 90% of the time the answer has been "Japan".... Of course, I rarely, RARELY, care enough to open my mouth in the first place so nevermind I don't know what I'm talking about.

Oh, I remember this one pair of boots on this woman... *salivates*

So, feminism/gay pride/whatever is a complete crock?

Cool.

EDIT: (feminism, in this case, is of course referring to a lot of the "women's pride" sort of things, not to certain philosophical/etc viewpoints.)

Feminism is the belief that women should be treated the same as men. Nothing more, nothing less.

Wow!

So many replies! Well, thanks to all!!

To avoid confusion, I'm not Japanese, but got into the scene when I realized mainstream culture was killing me slowly. The Goths are a great lot with lots of heart. If you want a taste of industrial stuff I got a small video of Baal here:
Sorry I'm too new to post URLs... Well trust me, its awesome stuff.

This was taken at a Tokyo Dark Castle event last year. TDC is the main live event in Tokyo and usually has about 150-200 people turning up each time. And they dress up for the scene - they look so awesome you could cry.

I've been here a few years after Univ. I remember Shazna was popular with Melty Love when I first came over. I am so happy I found the Goth scene here. A real bunch of nice people. You'll rarely see them outside Japan but a few bands are making their way overseas.
