Yes, quite subtle indeed; it was a spelling error. She probably won't notice.

If someone wants to know something like that tell them to look it up. But mostly this topic is annoying and overdone.

At least it is easier for me to explain to some one what the heck a goth is than explaining what a rivet head is.

but that's just me.

Goth actually stems from a term used by Roman Centurions after the invaded Europe. It was believed that the Gauls lived in the area, so they were given names like Viso Goths and what not.

In the 20th century, Punk arose. Punk means Australian in UK English. There were many bands and they became Internationally famous. As others people joined the music style a band came out from Southern France/Germany area and produced a top selling record. While performing for the Queen of England, she called them Gothic. Hence, new bands from England went forth with the noted styles from the Gauls living in the area, while stylizing their new acts.

So Goth equal Gaul.

A fun fact, they invented pants. They have ancient statues of both men and women wearing pants. They also helped craft many of the Cathedrals throughout France and parts of Spain. Notorious for being skilled craftsman gargoyles and flying butresses came from the Gauls.

Well, Mir, it is a very, very difficult thing to understand. There have to be at least fifty threads on it, since it is such a deep philosophic debate.

Does that sate you, Mir, or does it just make you yearn more the bygone age?

I believe the original "Goth With a Sledgehammer" thread can be found here: http://www.fehq.org/public/whatgoth.htm

And goth is what happens when you get tired of mass produced everything and grow a brain.

I was thinking maybe a perseptive over a judgemental person. No one seems to know what a Goth is, just know they are or are not. Usually it involves others agreeing on a person being so as opposed to a personal statement about ones' self.

Okay, I was making a statement about Goths.

Seriously, someone who fits the vampire image is stuck in the Goth Culter forever and ever and ever reguarless of anything they do, wear or hangout with.

Someone who is totally down with embarassing the whole Goth religon, clothing and culture maybe downcast forever and called a wannaBee because they don't fit the image.

Goth is vanity. It is the look and dance.

Nah dude, it's the acid we dropped into your spaghetti O's. I've always been a bit skeptical when people start taking about goth as a religion. Goth people come from so many different religions that there can be no one religion of "Goth." It's like Henry VIII when he founded the Church of England and ordered everyone to join. He didn't convert a country, he just pissed of the Catholics and the Lutherans.

People who share the same taste in fashion, music, and taste for things out of the norm.

Which has been said plenty of times.

I hope you aren't talking to me, because, if you are, I must confess that I have absolutely no idea as to what you are referring.
