Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind.

This is why Fabric Stores and sewing machines are my best friends~!
Most things are too expensive these days, so you have to make them.

It looks really hard, espacialy from my point of view, as one who knows almost nothing about sewing.
And has no sewing machine or the money to buy a good one.

There is that...But it's ebay, and the person's from Hong Kong area...So the shipping's pretty high.
I personally love Visual Kei also, but as proven it's kind of hard to do in the anywhere else besides Japan.

Frankly VK has very little to do with musical style (or quality) and all to do with the dress up. One of my Japanese Goth friends described them as mainly half-assed synthpop sounds performed by starlet wannabes and was pissed as hell when overseas people frame VK as anything approaching Goth.

And believe me, if you are in Japan that is pretty much the truth. Overseas Japanophiles have it lucky because only the half-decent or better VK/VK nu rock/VK nu metal bands get outside Japan. You get the cream of the crop. The rest are crock.

Of course, the real goth scenes here are so small you barely hear anything overseas, but they rock and kick ass here. If any of you get a chance to go to Japan make time for Tokyo Dark Castle or Midnight Mess or one of the other local events - no Kei.

Go to wikipedia and type in visual kei. It gives you a pretty good description. My favorite Visual Kei band is The Gazzete. You should also go to You tube and search for their music video Taion. Their genre is based on the visual aspect of their styled appearance. Their appearance is influenced by gothic culture like you said but also in my opinion glam, metal, and punk. They do look like girls! lol but in a good way.
