Funny how THIS subject HAD to be this original.
Frankly speaking I seriously don't know why you people have so many issues with terms.
This is a goth forum isn't it? Many here claim to be goths right?
What's the deal with your complicated minds... I wonder.

Just when I thought I couldn't find the punchline to the joke that is "goth"...Sure, it's serious and not as funny as it should be, but it will do for now.
I'm amazed there's no "Goth Forever" in there. :P
Please, Lord, let there be an entirely serious rebuttal to putting goth in the same sentence as "joke"...

I agree with some of the people here. You shouldn't be wearing make-up. You'd just look silly. Besides, your 12. Enjoy your youth.
You don't really need make-up to prove your goth. You don't need to prove yourself for anyone for that matter.
Geesh, kids are growing up to young these days..... :/
I'm not your mom, soooo. Do whatever your parents allow you to.
If you are going to wear make-up. Just some eyeliner and massacara is okay. Sometimes, less is more.
Heck, I've barely started wearing make-up and I'm 20.
Just remember that if you notice your breaking out with pimples, make-up is the worse thing you can put on.

I think its unfair to say that she's "too young" because you really know nothing about her. It really depends on how mature she is, and how old she looks. When I was 12 (not so long ago ) I wore some makeup, but not everyday. Usually just a little black eyeliner and eyeshadow, with chapstick or lipgloss (but not lipstick, because it looks kind of tacky). It really doesn't matter how much you wear, as long as you're happy with it and it doesn't break school dress codes etc. A little concealer would probably be alright if you have any birth marks or scars that you really dislike. Also, remember to wash it all off before you go to sleep and wash your face every morning to keep your skin clear.

I'm 14 and my parents kinda got used to it.
I just use foundation and pencil eyeliner but I don't think it's "too much"
Maybe you should start on a pencil eyeliner and work your way up to liquid.
The picture someone posted of Honeythorn is a great look.

As long as you're not going for a drag look, then remember:
<b>LESS IS MORE!</b>
That picture of Honeythorn was great. Study how she mimics her own eye shape with her liner. The points at each side of the eye are what counts. And don't get used to wearing make-up, because in a few years that last thing you're going to want to put on your skin is make-up. And please, for the love of all that is goth, if you're only 12 years old, why are your parents saying you're a whore?!
And don't do anything drastic...natural eyebrows look good on everyone...
except me.

I dunno, I feel make-up and hairstyleing are degenerating to the concept of self expression, but that's just me.
I would say start simple and smooth. compound, eyeliner, done. I used to date a girl who drew three lines down each of her eyes, kinda tacky by itself, but a nice touch with how she dressed. lots of draping and loose ends. Find something that works for you and stick to it...

Black lipstick looks like shit 9/10 times. I have only seen a few people who could pull it off and not look stupid. Make up is way over rated unless you are going for a photoshoot or concert or something if you must wear something a little bit around the eyes is enough. Or you could always paint a death mask on yourself and get some real stares.

Well, let it work, if you like it, fuck their opinions.
I'm going to get in contact with an ex of mine and get her details on how she pulled off a gradient black on the inside to red on the outer ledge of her lips and let you know how it works. be forwarned however, it smears to shit if you kiss with it on and it'll be dead give away to your parents. Considering how long it took for her to get ready for anything, I imagine it's not a fast process either.

I'd try a light tinted moisturizer with maybe a little talc powder on the top but go really easy on it. Tinted lip balms can be good on very young girls and give just a tiny hint of color.
If your naturally have quite a dark completion a little mascara can work well, but its not advisable if you're blonde, and 12. Maybe a little bit of grey eye shadow.
I don't know what the condition of your skin is but 12 tends to be a time for acne, so be a bit careful about what you put on, and if you do get spots you might want to not be putting on certain products, or switch to special ones and give your skin a rest whenever you can from putting make up on.

If you really want to wear makeup try just using a tiny bit of pencil eyeliner on the inner rim of your eye.
I'd say makeup isn't good at a young age but I started wearing it at 13 and had no idea how to put it on properly.
I looked like a fool.
So just use a tiny bit of eyeliner.
Maybe mascara if you feel the need.
Also I would spend a lot of time learning how to put it on before you go out in it.

Just use pencil eyeliner. Black or a dark gray or navy. Starting from the middle of each lid carefully draw the line to the corner of your eye and flick it a little when you reach th end. Don't exaggerate the flick at the side as it look a bit theatrical or ridiculous.
At that age your skin is probably perfect... don't ruin it with foundation, powder or even blush. Just use sun cream when you go out.

Also... its a bit unusual for parents to even use the word 'whore' around someone who is 12... Try and make an agreement with your Mum. Tell her that you will do what she expects from you but that you would really like to be able to ... <insert whatever you want>
you can lie.
Just don't get caught out.

My 12yr old wore eyeliner for the first time last week, and I only allowed it because she was doing a solo on stage, and the other contestants were 3yrs older than her. She actually hated the feeling of the pencil, and hasnt even attempted to wear it again! I think at 12 you have either perfect skin, or are plagued with spots, and its just a shame to grow up too fast and damage your skin with too much, so I agree with the sugestions here. If you MUST wear makeup, a little eyeliner and lip gloss is more than enough. As for being called a whore, I think thats a bit extreme!!

My mom let me wear makeup ever since I was way younger than you. I was only 5 or 6. Try a clear lipgloss. No mascara, I would wait until your a bit older. Light purple eyeshadow with a little black eyeliner. Be careful with the eyeliner if it is your first time using it, I poked the crap out of myself the first time.
Hope this helps.

12... My mom wouldn't even let me look at make-up when I was twelve! She just let me wear make-up this year; 9th grade. And I'm piling it on! LOL! no, I'm not. If your mom would let you I'd advise a light natural-ish white translucent powder and some charcoal or onyx eyeliner. Maybe silver or gray eyeshadow? I don't know if you'd consider it 'goth' but, it's what I wear and it emphasizes my large blue eyes and my natural paler skin so, yeah.
P.S. Make sure to wash it all off! Don't want pimples prematurely! I had pimples at twelve though...
And Don't dis Count Chocula! Though I prefer Lucky Charms. I like the marshmallows.
Bye! =)

I'm 14.
I wear foundation, Mascara, Eyeliner (pencil and liquid) and lipgloss.
My mum got used to it, but it did take a while.
I don't even wear as much as some people I know, that is how I justify it.

I just want to point out that even if they're not goth, some kids do tend to wear too much makeup. I think part of it has to do with the feeling that if you don't, people will stare and think you look bad (self confidence levels are little fucked up at times you see), and another part of it is just to experiment with your look.
That said, I've never been able to wear that much on my face because my skin is very dry so foundation and powder don't work too well.
Usually (when I can be arsed) I just put on eyeliner, eyeshadow, and dark lipstick.
No one should ever attempt to wear black lipstick if they have thin lips, as they end up looking like a smilie.

Probably because she is 12, and most kids her age are like that.
Anyway, I think 12 is too young to wear makeup, personally.

Being twelve doesn't cause behavior.

When I was around 12, I wore eye makeup.. I applied it horribly and looked like a raccoon. I could have pulled it off if I actually knew how to use it- at 12 I was often mistaken for someone quite a bit older than my actual age, makeup or not. Hmm.
However most 12 year olds do indeed look their age, which is an age that makeup really isn't possible without looking like a child whore. Experiment if you want to, though, it's your decision...

I wouldn't suggest you wear alot of make-up, if any.
I tried to wear it at 12 and looked stupid, so I didn't end up trying again untill I was 14.
But you should proubly just wear a TINY bit of eyeliner, and chapstick. A lighter powder if you really want anymore make-up than that, bit that proubly wouldn't be very nessesary.

I'm a kid and I wear little to none makeup save for black nail varnish and sometimes wearing a bit of eyeliner. The makeup's not too important particularly in a conservative household.
