One of my piercers actually has his tongue GAUGED [like people do their ears] and I find it completely disgusting.

Gauged tongue? Never heard of that before. It does bring to my mind of eating with it, I personally have never had any piercings but I sure as hell have friends with quite a few.

For some reason I always imagined you had one Zyklon, well damn, there goes that little detail of the fantasies.
As with any piercing I think it really depends on the person as to how well it works, though they seem to work with a lot of people, I couldn't get one ever, oddly the thought of a piercing anywhere on me makes me generally squeamish (except for collar bone) but I'm all good for scarification and tattoos. hehe.

ZyklonB < Yes. I had never heard of it or seen it before until I went to get my tongue pierced that one day and he showed me his tongue. I honestly think it's quite [forgive me] dumb to do so because how in the f*ck is he going to be able to fully taste anything anymore? I doubt he's got many taste buds!

Yup.. just like stretching ears. I started at a 16g, and gradually worked up to a 6g. It just stretches the hole.
My tongue, however.. it was pierced at 14g, and 14g it will stay. Same with my navel.

I've thought about getting my tongue done, but the people at the piercing place said that you can't talk or eat some stuff. I don't think I could do that.

My sister took hers out last week, she got a viral infection in her mouth. It grew over very quickly, she's fine now but won't be getting it redone.

It was hard to talk for three days, and hot (temp) and spicy food wasn't great for the first few weeks, but now I can speak fine and I eat anything I want.
It's just during the healing process.

My tongue may be a snobby bitch that has narrowminded food tastes, but i wouldn't punish it with a piercing hah xD i'd probably choke on the damn thing anyway, with my luck. If other people got it and it makes 'em happy, good for them ^^ it can look pretty good.

I've known a few folks who have gotten them, and I think they look pretty cool. Don't know if I'd be able to handle the pain myself, though. [I -am- thinking of getting a nose stud, though; that might be pretty cool.]
