haha w00t. Considering the fact that I, as of yet, have no pants I'd like to simmer, or dye, or a pot I'm willing to trash, or anything of the like, it will be a veeeeery long time before I do any pants simmering

I'll...be careful...hmmm...ok, back to the subject of dying things in the wash (sort of) am I the only person in the world who puts new black clothes in with the older black clothes (or a new pair of jeans in with the older jeans) as a means of refreshing colors....essentially using that whole annoying color bleeding thing to my advantage...

nah, new jeans bleed like mad sometimes...shoes do too...black shirts don't as much, but why do you think you separate clothes into lights and darks, etc when you wash, it's to prevent all the bleeding darker colors getting into all your lighter colors and screwing them up...no one wants a dingy grey, or unevenly dyed pink button down dress shirts....or at least not many people

that is a very good moral, to a relatively depressing story...I have a pair of thigh-high stockings like that on my wishlist...I shrunk half a pair of socks once. Now one of them falls down constantly because it's a bit tight, and the other doesn't...not that I would have advised shrinking them to begin with, but at least then I'd quit having the urge to wear the most annoying pair of socks on the planet because they're cute and one of them fits
