I guess you're right, that must be why Ireland is such a dominant global power.

This is further proof about my claim that Sternn is a left wing nut job.
Sternn. You. Are. CRAZY.

I don't know any left-wingers who would take Sternn's stance. Or right-wingers. He is a straight-up nutjob.

You know what, JCC. You're right. Sternn IS his own special breed of insane. I retract my statement about him representing those on the left and take it back.

So living in a European country for over a decade, having citizenship in said European country, a passport from the same European country, and having parents both from the same European country doesn't make me European?
Also, JCC is a brit, so we can leave it at that. The brits are just lap dogs to the Americans, everyone knows that, and there is the fact he is 14, so his opinion on any matters, political or otherwise, doesn't really count, since he can't even vote.

If it makes you sleep better at night trying to label me, I could care less. Radical ideas are needed when the society of today are more than willing to listen to the mainstream American media and accept what is sold to them as the truth.
Whats ironic is that you never seem to address my views, and always resort to personal attacks and name calling. This does not bode well for any point you may be trying to make, or your personal interaction skills either.
If you call everyone you ever meet 'crazy' when they disagree with you on a topic, you will find yourself living in a bubble and willing to regurgitate misinformation as long as it meets your misinterpreted view of the world and everything in it.

After ranting like an unhinged lunatic with unapologetic fervor against just about anything Americans do (to an audience containing a lot of said Americans) and manufacturing malfeasance were none existed in many instances (I'm still calling you out on your completely unwarranted and ill-informed reaction to my Spooky News post about Betty Tisdale) and quoting news sources that frequently have their facts wrong (which you never acknowledge when it's pointed out to you), I had to momentarily take you off ignore to respond to this one.
You can't even get JCC's age right? And dude, you're not just off by a year or two! I know if he can vote or not ... apparently you don't. And that whole paragraph just reeks of desperation ... since you can't seem to muster a real argument, you just (once again) resort to name calling and insults and false statements. It's pitiful.
What the fuck is wrong with you? Your reactionary rants deserve no attention by anyone here.
You couldn't find a fact if you were standing in a field full of facts singing a fact mating song and wearing fact pheromones on national "Fuck A Fact" day.
I now dub thee "Rebel Without A Brain."

Likely she was emotionally abused beforehand, I have a friend who is in a similar religion and she does not have the presence of mind of a 16-year old as she should, simply because within this church, they are abused and torn down to a level where they are not mature enough to handle themselves at ages when they should be.
This abuse starts so early there is really no way for the children to get around being that way.
Don't try to say that it is the country or the girl's problem. She has likely been abused and was ***** for (deity)'s sake!
Get over this idea that it was the victim's fault or you are just as much of an idiot as that church. Good for you, you ran away at 15 and would have taken down the whole system. But this girl was brainwashed by abusive cult leaders and you have no right to say that that was anyone's fault but her parents' and the church's.
This is disgusting in every respect. The fact that religions and people like this exist makes me want to...we'll not get into that. It's sick and they have abandoned what is good. When did religions start believing that it was okay to hurt others? Somewhere this religion, and many others, took a turn for the worst and that is sad as Hell (pun not intended).

You're not being radical. You're playing into the established tradition of blaming r@pe victims and excusing churches of all crimes they commit. I've never heard anyone radical or left wing or liberal or even conservatives claim that reinforcing r@pe culture is somehow a radical idea. You totally fail as a left wing nutcase. You've established yourself a tool of the patriarchy, heteronormativity, transphobia and the church, all while claiming to be a Marxist?

Wait wait wait wait wait, so JCC, who's age you got wrong but also you perceive to being younger than the victim in the OP, is too young to vote so his opinion never matters? What happened to he's young enough to move out on his own and establish himself as an adult?
And the fact that you know, if the victim was Irish, she wouldn`t be able to get full time work because the age for that is 16, she wouldn`t be able to drive because the age for that is 17, and if it had happened just a little earlier, like before 1996, she could have been thrown into an asylum for being a sexual deviant and today she would have to flee to the isle of America`s lapdogs to get an abortion if she needed it. Really, she`s lucky she wasn`t Irish.

You're an American Expatriot. You can't act like you have no understanding of the American mentality or American culture, that's retarded.

Really? Thats a lot of stuff you claim that I do, even though I have never done any of that, nor made any references of the sort. As I said, in three posts now in the thread, the church there and its members were all whack jobs. How is excusng the church? You just seem quick to attack anyone who doesn't agree with yourself, like a rabid chihuahua. He is the same age if not younger than the person in the article, so how can he argue that a 15 year old doesn't have the mental capacity to engage in any acts when he himself is in the same age group?

Americans can work when they are 14. Again, I never said Irish in any of my previous post when refering to the age and things one can do at that age. Per my previous post:
'They can drive and in many countries they can even join the military and/or be tried as an adult in court.'
That is America. You can join the Army and get sent to Iraq at age 16. You can go to prison for life at 14. You can drive at 15. That is America. Again, you have taken what you wanted from my post, twisted it in a way to suit your needs, then tried to use it to attack me on a personal level here, ignoring the reality of what I said.
More importantly you have ignored the facts by dismissing that these things a 15 year old can do in America.
Also the hyperbole about being thrown into an asylum for being pregnant - thats just classic. Sure that happened like 80 years ago, but then again 80 years ago one could still have blacks arrested for drinking from a white water fountain in America, so do you really want to compare histories and see which country did more to screw its own citizens?
If the best you can come up with is attacking a country for something that happened generations ago (at the same point in time your own nation was quite involved in far worse atrocities), then I would say you have little to say about the actual argument here.

Who said I forget anything? I did spend many of my childhood years stateside, if anything it gave me a better understanding into the American mentality. That is one of the main reasons I left. Look at the flotilla discussion - Americans all jump on board and support israel without thinking. I have been involved with various non-profits even when living in America supporting the Palestinians for years. Pretty much every American I knew thought that was insane, and had nothing good to say about the groups.
While in America I was actively involved in Irish politics. I ran Noraid for four years in Virginia. I again was targeted by various groups and eventually the government and was forced to leave because of my personal and political views.

I never said I didn't understand the mentality, just that I disagree with it on many levels. If anything, I know the American mentality better than most Americans. When you are on the outside looking in, it is much easier to assess the situation. This is even more compounded if you have a secondary set of standards or criteria to apply (i.e. another culture or two that you have lived in). For the record, I lived in Northern Ireland for a while as well.
I never 'adopted' anything, what I am is what I always have been. I'm just more in place here in a country that doesn't mind nationalising businesses and where social safety nets to protect citizens are a commonplace and people have more compassion for their fellow countrymen.
But if it helps you sleep at night labeling me, feel free. I sleep well every night knowing that my friends, neighbors, and fellow countrymen all stand beside me in contrast to what I see in America.

Looks like I hit a nerve there didn't I? You don't argue because your scope of intellectual retort is severely limited. If you can't even stay on topic and resort to personal attacks then one has to wonder who really takes you seriously?
You are a prime example of an average America, who when faced with the facts around any argument immediately resorts to name calling and classic 'mud slinging'. Who can blame you? You live in a world where that is considered proper these days - I mean - watch any political race in America - it's not who is right or wrong or what they support, it is just who can say the most hateful things on TV and get away with it.
You are just another physical embodiment of this very thing, with little to no insight to the real issues and willing to attack anyone who you see as an intellectual threat.
I feel sad for you actually.

How quickly forget how you wanted to excuse the church for tricking women into thinking they are abortion clinics, you defended the right of Catholic members of a PUBLIC school board for firing a teacher for being transexual, and I suppose the skinny jeans thread didn't involve the church but yeah, every thread lately that had to do with misogyny and transphobia, and now saying that the **** victim should have just not gone to the church that brainwashed her, you've been raging for the machine, haven't you?

Again, she can't drop out of school, its very difficult for children to get emancipation from their parents, so she legally has to obey her mother anyway, and she wasn't old enough to join the army and go to Iraq, so no that wasn't an option.

Actually, Ireland didn't get rid of Magdalene Asylums until fourteen years ago, way to know your own history. If it had happened in early 1996 in Dublin, it could very well have happened to her. At the same point in time, Canadian women were enjoying sexual liberty and the right to chose abortion even when they were *****, which Irish women and children still cannot chose, fancy that.

First you claimed JC was 14 (see your first post above.) Then I corrected you ...
and I stated y ou were off and NOT JUST BY A YEAR OR TWO!
Which means logically that he can't be 12, 13, 14, 15 or 16.
But you came back with a comment saying that your argument is still valid if he's 15. So you can't read or you can't add.
I suspect you can't read ... because this is just one of many times that you have misread people's posts here. Sometimes you even skip whole parts of posts.
I also said I know whether he can vote or not, which should suggest to you that it's possible he could be 18 and you whole statement about his opinion not mattering is in the crapper.
But hey, you being a jackass is not a problem. Being an ignorant, hypocritical jackass is what makes this obnoxious! You discount JC's opinion because you think he's too young to matter in the same conversation where you say young people should be able to be independent at age 14. Hypocrite!
I now dub thee "Rebel Without A Brain who can't read or add."

That was never my point, you're just deliberately misreading it because you're an idiot and think that nobody will notice. I'm not making a case for fifteen year olds being universally incapable of making an informed decision, because I didn't state a case at all, I made it clear that I thought you were a dick and left it at that. If I was to imply that someone was incapable of making an informed decision, and I do not believe that is entirely the cause of what happened and your inability to accept the inability to make an informed decision is not why I think you're a dick, it would not be on the grounds that they are fifteen. This fifteen year old girl was raised in an environment that was incredibly controlling and hierarchical; I have never been exposed to that, nor have I ever been exposed to fundamentalist Christianity or evangelical religion to any serious extent, it has certainly never been a fixture of my life. Were I fifteen years old, which I am not, my age would be the only thing that I had in common with this girl. She has been raised in an environment which has systematically destroyed any sense of independence or freedom of thought and will in her and as such her inability to come to an informed decision would only be compounded by her age, not created by it, and I think that a woman of thirty could be just as adversely affected by her upbringing as this girl potentially was.
However, I don't believe that her inability to make an informed decision to leave was the cause of this incident. If this girl is fifteen years old and her family has taken her to this misogynistic, deeply divided and hierarchical church her entire life, an informed decision would tell her that it would be ill-advised to defy them. Who knows how her family would have reacted? Deeply Christian families are unfortunately not known for their tolerance and understanding when it comes to disobedience. She probably thought something along the lines of "I'm not in the position where running away from home is a viable solution to my problems, if I do something impulsive like that I may end up living a life worse than Hell, frequenting a Goth forum to blindly and consistently be an apologist for Christian religious institutions, proselytise people with whatever stance the Trotskyists are taking, make ad hominems about teenagers who are somehow unfathomably intellectually superior to myself as a substitute for an argument and start addressing people as 'laddy' and other clichés that reinforce my false Irishness. I'd best just cave to the pressure and apologise."

Hit a nerve? What nerve did you hit? You don't know why I'm being shitty with you. But I'll tell you why. It's not because you're a threat to me intellectually. It's because I FEEL like calling you names and insulting you. It's not because my world view is being shattered, it's just because it tickles my fancy to be a dick to you.
Here's the score. This is what I've gleaned from your posts:
You're blaming a child for being ***** and that it's somehow her fault for allowing her community to abuse her.
You CONSTANTLY claim to support radical groups that are anti-American that want to wipe out whole groups of people.
You support groups who are NOT egalitarian, but are more so a theocratic political lean than a real Marxist lean.
You say you're a Marxist/Socialist when you are quick to defend or support groups that don't share your ideals, but only a common enemy.
You FAKE an Irish accent on-line. You call yourself Irish and try to distance yourself from being American.
You ARE bigoted towards Americans.
You come off as if every problem in the world is somehow linked to America or that they're responsible for the misery in the world.
You SIDE with the left NO MATTER WHAT it is. You refuse to think critically about your ideas. You simply chose to be a leftist and you don't CARE how the left gets any sort of leeway, just so they do. You are WILLING to bend the truth, twist the facts, or omit anything presented so that it will serve your leftist leans.
From all of this, you just strike me as absolutely phony. Mostly because of your political ideals and the lengths you're willing to go to make something true when it isn't.
A true Marxist would NEVER side with Hamas. A true Marxist would commend the United States for starting to get a more universal healthcare program.
A critically thinking person would know that neither side of the Gaza conflict for example is particularly good bunches of people. A critically thinking person can identify aspects of other cultures that are just plain wrong and messed up and that not all of them are equal. A critically thinking person can identify and understand why certain groups have to do what they have to do to ensure their survival such as Israel enforcing a blockade. A critically thinking person can identify why that isn't a good thing to do in the long run. A critically thinking person can see WHY it's fucked up that a teenaged girl who got ***** and then psychologically forced to apologize to her community.
Sternn, you're just not being a critical thinker. THAT'S why I disagree with you. Me being an asshole and calling you names is NOT a part of why I disagree with you, it's just because I FEEL like being a dick to you because I don't like you.
Now see? I have engaged with you intellectually and addressed the meat of your current posts without resorting to name calling. From the list that I have made of what I've noticed about you, you can explain yourself. As a critical thinking man, I'm willing to admit that I may be wrong or mistaken. By all means, explain yourself.
PS: You're a fucking douchy Irish poseur.

Er, at least in colorado... minimum age for employment is 16, 14 with a specially granted work permit... driving age is 16 one can get one's permit at 15 but that means one can only drive with another person 21 or over.
Last time I checked, the minimum age for joining the military was 18...
Some people under 18 are tried as adults.. however it is not a common practice.
There really isn't much one can do to support themselves legitamately at the age of 15 here in the U.S.
Perhaps she could have ran away and be come a prostitute.. or been a drug mule or something...pherhaps go be some disgusting hood's bitch... What wonderful options.. great outlook for her future...

Since you have to be 18 to sign a legal contract in the United States, no matter how independent and resourceful you are, if you are under 18 you are dependent on someone else for a place of shelter.

Clinton: Calm down boy, catch your breath
White-House Guy: We've done it sir! we've found out the identity of the man behind the IRA's fundraising front!
Clinton: Good work Winston. Let us see the face of this brilliant terrorist.
Winston the White-House Guy: *file*

But if it helps you sleep at night labeling me, feel free. I sleep well every night knowing that my friends, neighbors, and fellow countrymen all stand beside me in contrast to what I see in America.

Bullshit. I work with a REAL Irish person, and I showed her your posts. She says you're a goddamn idiot. You countrymen don't stand with you; You're a fucking nut who stands with other fucking nuts in his fucking nut club. Every thursday you get together at "Batshit Insane O'Gradies" and talk about batshit insane things.
You seem to think, in that tiny, twisted cul-de-sac you call a brain that one can plant a flag on humanity, that arbitrary lines draw in in the sand preclude compassion, and so, like every other tribal-minded simpleton you find your team, hole-up, and root for them regardless of their values or the outcome.
It's a god-dammed shame.
